Jonathan Duhamel bracelet robbery

I just now read about the Jonathan Duhamel robbery and attack. It makes me feel like I have been living under a rock since this happened over two months ago. Worse yet, I can't believe nobody here on chiptalk has posted about it before now. (If someone did, I certainly didn't see it)

Anyway, if you didn't hear about it, in December Duhamel was attacked in his home outside Montreal and had his 2010 WSOP Main Event bracelet stolen from his safe.

Police have arrested four people and Duhamel's ex-girlfriend allegedly was the mastermind behind the robbery.

Two weeks ago the bracelet was found by a street sweeper. But, unfortunately, it is in terrible condition.

Wow, first I've heard of this. Looks like his bracelet was run over by several trucks after going thru a garbage disposal

I believe that Duhamel has an offer to receive a new bracelet if he chooses to.

I'd probably take the new bracelet only if I get to keep the damaged one too, which has the sentimental value.

I think I'd take it, as it is the symbol that the bracelet represents that holds the sentiment in my mind, so a replacement bracelet would be like repairing a damaged car in my mind. It would still really be the same bracelet, symbolizing the same moment in time.

That said, I'd rather have the money than the bracelet. I am not really a keeper of keepsakes.

I would be hard-pressed to refuse a replacement. I'd be more likely to accept the replacement and then MAYBE (I said MAYBE) auction the damaged one off for a charity of some kind.

Wow. I win 8+million, and I get my face put all over the place - that's when I start hiring the right people to keep crap like this from happening to me. In other words I'm not the dude that opens the front door. Some 280lb ex-cage fighter built like a bulldozer on a good salary does that for me.

I'd take the new one, but either keep the old on on display somewhere or make sure the organization doesn't destroy it so it can be put on display if a hall of fame museum gets put together some day.
