he's been hospitalized after a stroke and the prognosis is not good. hasn't hit the news yet, but got posted on 2+2 earlier:

bobby is an old school player who was still killing the games in cali. i only know him through interviews and articles, so i tried briefly to find a couple in case folks hadn't heard of him. didn't find anything too great (i know i missed some - i remember at least one where viffer talks about playing with bobby at the commerce and recounts some interesting hands and amusing anecdotes), but here's a short interview with cardplayer:
