WSOP - Anyone heard about this?
I haven't been able to find a news report about this on the interwebs but I heard that a player in event 3 this year received a lifetime ban from the WSOP and Harrahs after a dealer saw him trying to add another player's chips into his stack .
Anyone heard about this or have more info?

I read he went to pull in a pot while everyone had already gotten up to go on break and he put his arm around the stack next to him and raked the whole thing in with one move. Crazytown.

Re: WSOP - Anyone heard about this?
Story checks out. It was talked about on the 2+2 pokercast and poker road radio (and probably a lot more pod casts) as well as a bazillion blogs. try looking at bluff or poker news - I'm sure you can find it there
As BK stated the guy won a hand which was the last hand before a break -- all the other players left and when he dragged his pot he grabbed a stack from the player next to him. When the player got back from break he noticed he was down a stack. The TD went to the video and saw what happened -- offender is now banned for life. LOL WSOP-ban-a-ments

Found it at pokernews.com.
Leave and Don't Ever Come Back
Wondering how you can get noticed at this year's World Series of Poker? Well, you could wear a silly outfit or you could actually win something. Or, as in the case of one player, you could get banned from the WSOP for life. Oh yeah, it actually happened and we're not even a week into it yet. So, how do you do it you ask? You take things that don't belong to you, and we're not talking sandwiches, we're talking another player's chips.
Just as play went on break of the $1,000 event on Saturday, two players were involved in a pot. The other players left the table and the hand played out with Mr. Perma-ban winning the pot. "As the dealer pushed the pot his way and he started raking it in, he just pulled the chips in with one hand. He set his other hand down in the spot next to him as if he was using it for leverage to lean forward to pull in the chips. In fact, he placed that hand over a stack of chips of the player next to him (who had left the table like all the others for break). As he was pulling in the pot with one hand, he noticed the dealer’s eyes move off him and at that moment pulled in the chips that were underneath his other hand. To the naked eye it just looked like he was pulling in the chips with both hands."
This was the story, according to Michael Craig, that tournament director Jack Effel told an adjacent table after they asked why the player was being led out by security. And then Effel said, “He’ll be banned from the World Series forever.” There you have it.

Mr Perma-ban and WSOP-ban-a-ments made me laugh.
Thanks BK. From that news item, it sounds like he did it deliberately after the other players went on a break and deserves the ban. I was wondering how he managed it without the others noticing (some ninja sleight of hand, perhaps).

Imagine all those people in his home game who now wonder if that jerk stole their chips when they went on break!

Re: WSOP - Anyone heard about this?
Something similar happened at my cash table at Harrah's after I busted out of Event #30. We were playing $1-$2 NLHE. Long story short, this guy bet $40 on the river. The other guy thought about it for a few seconds and called the bet. It was a bluff and he threw in his cards after the guy called. However, when he bet his $40, he barely put it in front of him. So when he mucked his cards, he slyly raked his $40 back. Not slyly enough however, because the guy that called him immediately noticed. They called the floor over, went to the video, and sure enough. Cheater!
Absolutely amazing to me how people think they can get away with crap like that at a casino. I'm glad that thoughts like that never even enter my mind. I guess I was raised right. Thanks mom and dad.

Yeah I don't know because the dealer didn't see it at all. The other guy in the hand was the one that immediately complained. The dealer admitted that he didn't witness anything and they went right to the video. Interesting.
