Chips: 957 | | | 1000 chip "Birdcage" Clear Case Review Manufacturer: Lucent Retailer(s): eBay; 5stardeal; Kardwell Average Price: $22.95---$89.00, PLUS SHIPPING Material: Acrylic Member Review by: TRIPLE-D PriceThis case can be found on many retails sites on the internet as well as from many eBay sellers. Prices range from $22.95 to $89.00, with the lower priced ones coming from eBay (along with eBay sellers' usual HUGE shipping price). There are 3 sellers on ebay and I have bought from two of them. One was $22.95, the to other I paid $34.95. They are EXACTLY the same carriers, no difference whatsoever!! They both charge high shipping charges, and after shipping, they will both work out to about $56.00 to $58.00. The carrier will hold up to 10 chip racks, each rack holding 100 chips, for a total of 1000 chips. At various times, all three sellers will have them listed with 10 FREE chip racks. Somewhere I saw a clear carrier that holds 600, but I'm not sure where it was.
I have called other gaming suppliers on the phone, and so far they all attach the same way. By phone description, they are the made out of the same materials, but generally sell for much more $65.00 up to $89.00. And no free chip racks. LooksThis chip carrier is clear acrylic, has a black acrylic base, and a black acrylic handle. It stands 13 inches tall, 10 inches long, and 8 inches wide. The chips themselves are placed in acrylic chip racks, then the racks are stacked on top of each other on the base. The carry handle is attached to the center of the base using screws, and divides the base into two halves. The handle is about 13 inches tall, acts as a wall to stack your racks against, and extends through the top of the acrylic cover.
The "Birdcage" clear chip carrier looks great, and give a way to display chips in manner that they can be seen by others. It looks good on the coffee table. SecurityIf security is something that is of interest to you, then this is may not be the way to go. You could place a padlock on the black handle while the birdcage is placed over the chips, thus preventing the cage from being lifted off. This might still allow a person to lift the cage enough to spill the chips out the bottom. Since the case is acrylic, the cage could easily be broken open with enough force. If you just want to secure the cage while it's in public view at a game for example, it'll be ok to use a padlock. Not very pretty, but certainly affective. DurabilityAs far as durability, I have been carrying mine around for about two months. I really do not like the way the handle is attached by screws. It has held up so far. The set I carry in mine is a set of 1000 coin inlay Matsui's, not a light weight set. Reviewers Comments The thing I like most about the clear chip carrier is that I can display my colorful chips and still have a functional chip carrier. When I'm ready to go play, I throw a couple of decks of cards on top of the chips, slide the cover back over them, and I'm off.
It is easy to travel with. There was a question about the handle comfort. It is comfortable enough for the distances I carry it----from the truck to the house, or the house back to the truck. I wouldn't want to carry it several miles, but short distances are no problem. Pictures

Pros: - Looks - A very classy way to store your chips. Nice enough to display in the living room
- Price - $35.00 shipped (without racks) from Overstock.com
- Quality - The acrylic is thick and so is the base (but see the con below).
Cons: - I'm very concerned that the center insert won't hold the weight of 1000 chips. I won't walk more than a few feet without my free hand supporting the bottom. When the handle does finally give way, I'll probably add another screw and lots of glue.

This acrylic carrier feels sturdier than other ones I have had in the past. I have no worries about the handle breaking away from the base.
- The carrier can store 10 acrylic chip racks with lids (1000 chips total). The racks & lids came from Palm Imports too.
- Provides a profesional casino style look & storage for your chips.
- The clear cover allows your chips to be displayed for everyone to see.
Cons:- I have not found any issues with the carrier, I own 2 of them.

I paid 43.99 + shipping. It comes with 10 trays that hold 100 chips each. The trays were the main reason why I ordered the case from this site, most sites said that trays are not included.
Pros: - Comes with the trays so I did not have to purchase them separately
- Looks- No matter what chips you have, they will look great in side this case.
- Compact- It is not as compact as a flat aluminum case, but I can store it with out problem on my bookshelf.
Cons:- Weight- Very heavy and feels like it will break at anytime. If however is very strong and should not break, just gives you an uncomfortable feeling while moving the chips from place to place.
