Chips: 303 | | Just got the cafepress dealer button, and here are the specs:
Diameter: 2.90" (73.7mm)
Thickness: 0.151 " (3.85mm)
Weight: 37.08g (1.308oz.)
Quickie review:
The egdes are rounded, and the surface is glazed, and a bit irregular, like what a fired disc of painted china would look like. And it does sound like china- it 'plinks' just like a coffee saucer. Methinks this would not survive a table drop onto a concrete floor- though I didn't try it to see. If it's glazing on top of a metal disc- it's not magnetic.
The attached ribbon would make it great for a Xmas tree ornament. That's probably what I'll use it for... -I don't know how well it would survive some of the 'mungo-mitts' at our table. |

It looks like a fine Xmas tree ornament, but a crappy dealer button.
The magnet would actually make a better dealer button -- but you'd have to keep it away from those dice and WPT chips!

'Plinking' it a few more times, I could almost swear it has something besides ceramic in there... but I can't be certain. Looking in the hole, there's no evidence of a sandwiched insert. But it has a 'ring' to it that sounds metallic to me.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see if someone breaks their's- and posts their findings... ops: |

Chips: 39,035 | | | Got mine today too, and I personally love it. I would be honest with you if I didn't, trust me. It's exactly what I expected, knowing that it was a Xmas tree ornament even though that's not what it was called even before I made it a button. I thought as well that it would not survive a drop on concrete, but it WOULD survive a drop on my hardwoods. (or laminates)
I love the weight of it and the size of it. All along I wanted a 3" button and I got it. I wanted a bigger, heavier button than what we normally use. This is is just that, plus the colors are vibrant and will never wear off.
I think the colors came out great even though John and I hastily uploaded a poor copy of that mockups. The image I uploaded for the coffee cup was much higher rez, and it REALLY makes a difference on the mug. |

Someone might explain that, but I think basically it's a ceramic that's much denser and fired longer and/or hotter. |

Chips: 303 | | I have some bar favors (coasters) that are a porcelain-on-metal sandwich and this doesn't sound like them. Is is indeed like a fine china. -I dug out our good service to compare...
But this button is too nice to save it just for special occasions. I'm thinking of a way to change that. Lucite encasement comes to mind. I'll let you know how it turns out.
[EDIT - 07-27-05] Slabbed it. Link is here: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2576 |

Problem is, just as we were finishing the design, Chipco announced that it will allow NO MORE chips for the home market larger than 39mm. This includes business card chips, plaques, and octagons. So we are looking for another way to get this produced.
Suggestions? | This is what www.premierpokerbuttons.com came up with what do you think ten??

Chips: 501 | | | Re: The Official ChipTalk.net Dealer Button Now that's pretty good looking, I'd consider getting one Although, I'm also thinking about getting a dealer button from there to match my own customs. Looks like they do a great job.
