Paulson vs. PGI tray preference?

I don't own any Paulson trays but love the PGIs I bought last year. They hold my chips so much more snuggly and stack even better than the trays that came with my birdcages. But now that I'm needing more trays, I was wondering if I ought to pick up some Paulson's as a comparison. For those of you that have owned both, what's your preference or are they pretty comparable?

I need to pick up some trays for my recent Empress set I have purchased. What size rack did you get from PGI? What chips are you storing?

PGI > Paulson > Chipco > generic 66.7 racks.

PGI casino racks rule, especially when you consider price. The smaller footprint makes them fit in hinged 600-ct carriers much better, too.

I believe they're 66.7 mm racks but can't be absolutely sure. I bought 'em straight from PGI, so you might want to verify their tray sizes with them before purchasing. But a barrel of my mint Grand Vic's fit perfectly. There's no movement at all yet they're not so tight that number 20 gets squeezed. My used Empress Roulettes are definitely looser, but not to the point that the trays accommodate 21 chips per barrel. With either new or used chips, I will say the PGIs make for very easy stacking.

I'd still like to hear from some Paulson tray owners though!

My paulson racks have these little plastic nubs on the inside of the bottom which I believe are meant to make for a tighter fit when stacked but have nicked some of my chips in the racks below. For the money you just can't beat the PGI racks

Is the footprint smaller than Paulson? My 1000-count acrylic cases fit way better over the PGI trays than the China trays that came with them.

Re: Paulson vs. PGI tray preference?

Both racks are great. IMO PGI racks are a better value (no sacrificing of quality for a way better price). The PGI racks fit 20 new Paulsons perfectly but are extremely tight when stacking...so much so that sometimes when lifting the racks, they lift the 2 middle rows in the tray below. But there is no wiggle in the stack at all when stacked 5-6-7 racks high which is nice.

Footprint size: PGI < Paulson < Chipco

Chipco racks were a PITA to use in a hinged carrier. You had to remove at least a barrel of chips from the bottom rack in order to get it out.

Since I started using PGI casino racks, I've given away almost all of my Paulson and Chipco racks.

The newer Paulson racks do not have the nubs.

All mine I have taken out of the casinos in AC, except a couple that were sent to me with a chip purchase. I might have to pick up some of the new ones, I'll have to see if Revel has them so I can check them out.
