Home Shuffle Machine but dice chips

Interesting about an automatic shuffler targeted at the home market:

Poker News - Automatic Shuffler for Homegames to Hit Market in 2008

But watch the video. "You only use the highest grade chips..." Uh, those don't look like the highest grade chips to me! Looks like they're using KEM cards, but the chips are a little, um dicey.

The units going to start at $480. If you've got the cake to buy an auto shuffler for your home game, you'd think you could get some better chips!

The part about the Hi-Quality Chips is ab so lutely hilarious.
The Shuffler looks cool though. But I'd spend my 500 bux on some quality clay chips first.

Re: Home Shuffle Machine but dice chips

This looks like a great compact machine. I would like to see it in action before I would buy it.

The questions I have:
1. How does it work with all cards, bridge and poker size? Also, card stock...flimsy blackjack cards, regular Bikes and similar, thicker casino quality cards, and plastics. If these all work well, then it will cover all home games.

2. How does the random shuffler work? Is it driven by a tiny computer chip inside to give a true random shuffle, or is it just a glorified version of those loud home shufflers where you put half the deck on one side, half on the other, and then press the button in the middle.

3. Timing...I would like to see how fast the machine can accept a deck, shuffle it, and produce the deck. Sure, when you're sitting at a table of 10 guys, a single around can take a while. However, if someone is running a tourney, and they are down to three or four players, everyone can fold around to the BB pretty fast. Having to wait for the second deck to shuffle might slow the game down.

Obviously I'm not expecting a $15,000 Shuffle Master unit for the price of $500. (That's like expecting pure custom CC Paulson chips for the price of plastic Bicycle chips....it's never gonna happen! hahaha...)

The other thing is that I'm a fast shuffler...dealing poker and blackjack games for years allows my turn around to be quick. There are other guys at the table who are *horrible* and they bend the deck and take forever. This would be a HUGE plus for them. hahaha...

Hey! Those chips said 'real clay' on the shrink wrapped box at Walmart! They're just like the casinos use!

I talked to Hiro and he says they will use real chips in their next adds.

Re: Home Shuffle Machine but dice chips

I applaud the guy for doing this. It seemed to me that it shouldn't be that hard to make a home-use shuffler that worked effectively for a reasonable price. We'll see how it turns out - I'm looking forward to it.

Now, on a much more pertinent note, am I the only one that finds that woman in the video SCARY?

What woman? Now that's scarry! All these guys looking at the chips, cards and shuffler and none of us probably noticed the woman. A first in the male population.....that's now the real sign of how sick we are...

Re: Home Shuffle Machine but dice chips

I also asked questions about how it would handled different card sizes and stocks. Here's what I got back:

"Size of the cards are no problem. It can handle bridge or poker size. Thickness or weight of the cards does not matter either. Our biggest enemy is the memory on the cards. Paper cards will retain memory and bent cards will cause a problem. We are including two decks of Copag cards so we can promote plastic cards and we have tested with many plastic cards including Kem cards."

I prefer plastic, so that works for me.
