Poker Room completed

Well, almost.
I still need to get a fridge down there, and I'm sure I'll put more stuff up on the walls.

Over a year ago I started playing, then hosting a regular weekly NLHE game - tourney style, low buy-ins. I bought what I though was a great set of chips from a friend @ work, and it all snowballed from there. I sold those and bought a better set, then I bought another set, then I added-on to the first and second set, and on, and on, and cards. So, the first set of chips weren't good enough, and once I got a better set, my table wasn't good enough. And, of course the chairs weren't good enough.

So, I built a table. Then the rest of the poker room looked like crap, so I had to buy something to put the chips in, the beer and food on and the liqour in. And a simple can light wouldn't do, so I needed to put in better lighting over the table........ and a dimmer.

Anyway, I think I'm finally at a point where I can take a little breather.

Here are a few pictures.

Thank goodness for craigslist; I bought a lot of stuff on the cheap from their classified ads. I wouldn't have been able to build the table w/out all the info and help from Scott Keen's site, and my burguening chip addiction wouldn't be what it is w/out this place.

Nice set-up. How do you like that slide out cupholder? Does it bump your elbows or get in the way?

Re: Poker Room completed

Lucky Louie,

I added the cupholders just last night, before our game. I like them a lot. They worked out great. I didn't want drinks on the table, so I built it w/out a racetrack. The type I installed swing out from under the table. They are attached w/ a lazy susan. Also, I added a magnetic latch/catch so when they swing into position, they stay in place. Using the leftover wood from the dining table-top I bought for the base, I built four w/ two cupholders in each. They did not get in the way at all. I think they might've if I had built eight w/ one cupholder each.

The only drawback so far, is since the beer is so conveniently positioned now, I ended up drinking quite a bit. The night finished-up around 3:30, and I had a pretty good headache when I finally got out of bed this morning.

Re: Poker Room completed

May I ask where you got those chairs and how comfy they are? Those are exactly the kind I want for my room.

Re: Poker Room completed

Yeah, I'm sure I'll upgrade the chips down the road, but until then, the fauxs and sopranos are a big upgrade to the slippery chips we started with.

Re: Poker Room completed

I got the chairs off of craigslist for about $5-6 a piece. I'm pretty sure Sam's or Cosco has them for around $20.

They are very comfy, and they stack.
