I'd be interested to know what you find out and where you end up going etc as I am also thinking of making a table.

Re: Aussie ChipTalk Members

yes i to have bought my velveteen from spotlight
its a good choice of material for your first few tables
however i buy the suited casino cloth from your auto trim now and would not use anything else (except maybe for the velvet at spotlight that goes for about $30 a mtr.....thats some nice stuff if you dont want the suited pattern on your table)

i think that the price of the suited cloth is justified, but it just depends on your own budget.......id suggest goin with the velveteen for you first table and see what you think

if you have any other questions feel free to pm me

p.s where abouts in Aus is everyone from.....i live in Newcastle NSW (2 hours north of Sydney)

nice table there!

with the velveteen you bought from spotlight, do you know if its essentially the same as the velveteen from auto trim?

i was probably leaning toward unsuited cloth

i'm from melbourne by the way

thanks for the info

Re: Aussie ChipTalk Members

I'm from Brisbane. Hi guys, nice to know there are more Aussies that share my appreciation of nice chips.

One question I might throw out there (not meaning to thread jack) is:

Are home poker games for money legal in Australia?

Anyone know?

Re: Aussie ChipTalk Members

i have always thought it was illegal to pay for money even if there is no rake taken
i asked a friend of mine who is a cop and he said that it is illegal but not to sure exactly

aimr75 - thanks, in regards to the velveteen, no the YAT vel is different it streches more and is thinner. if your leaning towards getting normal cloth then id suggest getting velveteen from spotlight as its about 10 bucks a mtr and you dont have to pay any shipping if you can afford to spend another 20 bucks a mtr more then id suggest getting the velvet.($30 mtr)

i have also used a material called Kara, its a curtain material and also works well on tables

your best bet is to go into spotlight and have a look around and see what you like.....i usually take some cards in and see how they slide, you might get the odd look from the old ladies but it deffinatly helps in choosing

FYI - be carfull with the velveteen from spotlight as it can crimp wen you put something heavy on it and does start to rub and pill after a while

i might still have some samples of the velveteen that i have recieved from jason at YAT, if you PM me your address i can send some to you if i can find them.

thanks Michael
