I am looking to buy either Poker Pro Academy or Wilson’s Turbo Hold’em. What’s your opinion on these programs? I need to take my game up to the next level. I like the ability to set up situations and practice them, like playing pocket pairs, draws, and other situations that one needs to master. Playing online really doesn’t seem to help my game with so much erratic play with play money, and playing the real money tables for experience and experimenting with different styles can get a little expensive. I like the idea of being able to control the game, to work on specific aspects of the game, to help me improve, and get numerous hands in a short time.
I have them both - current versions of both too. I have to give the nod to Wilson. I prefer their interface slightly. I think their bots are more realistic in their play as well. I also prefer their customer service and support.

I asked this question on 2+2 before buying Poker Pro. The response was unanimous among players who had tried both. Ultimately, I didn't have a choice because only Poker Pro Academy is Mac-compatible.
Poker Pro Academy allows you to customize games. It's hard to customize the game to make it simulate the actual players you'll play in your games, but it's still a great way to practice. Actually, I also practice on line at Poker Pages poker school. The play there, at the higher stakes (but still free if you're a subscriber) is pretty good.
