Re: Gift Ideas for the Poker Player

I went a different route. I informed my wife last night that I had the perfect gift
selected for the next time she wants to get me a "big gift".

500 custom inlay ASM's

Her initial reaction was indifference. A few minutes later she asked how much
they would cost. Opting to not go with a firm figure, I responded that they were
in the ballpark of a digital camera (my last big gift). She then informed me that
I was stupid and returned to her previous activity. I made the heirloom pitch,
since I plan to use our family crest as the inlay. She wasn't impressed, but didn't
call me stupid again.

Overall, an acceptable first step.

Oh yeah! I forgot the most important part of my plan.

To ply her with extravegant gifts and not question any of her purchases.

However, I don't think they'd hold up to well to the bake test.

Re: Gift Ideas for the Poker Player

This thread reminds me of the 3-5 years of golf presents I got from my girlfriends family. I have more knick-knacks of golf spike removers, cleaners, shoe/leather cleaners, sleeves of lousy balls as part of other holiday sets, etc.

Then came the year that someone just got me an 8-pack of Guiness.

Hallelujah!

I've now gotten Guiness + something for the last few years running.
The moral: They may be a "poker player" but if you're not it's quite likely that you'll get them something they don't want.
The answer: If they're a poker player, cash is always good!
