Chips: 3 | | | Our home games are small stales, we only invite a select group. We have a good time, drink a little, cuss a little, complain some and laugh alot. No one wears them, if they did I would make sure they either didn't come back or felt stupid wearing them.
However, any general tournament, or if I play in a higher stakes game where you can win or lose enough to feel it, I do. Then its not for the camaraderie its for the game and some cash. |

Chips: 102 | | | We usually spend more money on the beer and food at my game. It's more about the fun and less about the winning. Sunglasses do not really belong in that setting. Even when I go to the casino, I don't wear sunglasses. Maybe when I become a professional gambler I will change...maybe. |

Chips: 6,850 | | | We had a Halloween tournament last year, and one of the regulars (female) wore sunglasses, a hat, and a stupid poker tee-shirt. She constantly told us she had won 9 bracelets, and if it weren't for luck, she would never lose. Very funny, especially since she was about the 3rd person out!
I also once played in a charity shoot-out tournament and won my table, thus making the final table. One of the players at the final table had the sunglasses and gave "the stare" every time someone bet or raised. We were down to 6 out of 9 (3 places paid), when I got pocket nines, folded to me in the cut-off with a medium stack. Of course, I raised all-in. Fold, fold. Then Mr. Sunglasses in the BB stared at me for about 3 minutes, and called with a smaller stack than mine with A6s. When I turned over my hand, he started with the "pocket nines? All-in with nines?? Who goes all-in with nines?" Yes, I busted him.
Funny how he thought I was an idiot. Buddy, the feeling was mutual. (Not to say that his hand wasn't good enough, but that he thought MY HAND wasn't good enough. Especially amusing since it was the first hand I'd played in almost 3 orbits, excluding blinds.)
BTW, I finished second, due to two lost coin-flips in a row. But since I was not eligible to win any prizes (boring reasons), it was all for pride in any case: the other guy had already "won" anyway! The kicker is that I saw Mr. Sunglasses a few weeks later and didn't recognize him, but he sure remembered me: "Why the hell would you go all-in with nines?" Pure genius. |

Chips: 264 | | At my home game along with the other two hosts (we alternate houses each week) no one weres sunglasses unless we are playing on the back patio outside and its funny because everyone lifts there glasses to see their cards and then puts them back down to keep from going blind, other than that no one wears them unless we are all having some fun after watching the WPT or WSOP on TV. In fact when we put the glasses on to tmake fun we all say the same thing how and the heck do these guys see their cards. |

In my experience, any new player coming into our game wearing sunglasses is basically advertising that they watch too much poker on tv & probably suck.. | Exactly the image I want to project to collect all of your chips. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
