Thinking about doing a ChipTalk Freeroll
What about a a ChipTalk Freeroll?
To kick off interest in Bodog since I just set up an affiliate account with them, I am thinking about a freeroll. I can kick in a couple hundred bucks, and I was hoping to get some sponsorship for a few hundred to make it a cool $1000. No one would need to have money deposited there since it's a freeroll.
My question for you is, how can I promote this tournament outside of ChipTalk? The goal would be to get new blood here from the outside world. Are there freeroll listing sites that we could post to?
(BTW, the Bodog people are fantastic! I emailed a question about private tournaments, and got back a very personalized email from a real person. They not only gave me a lot of info about private toruneys, but they even went through ChipTalk and found errors in my banner codes for me. They gave me documents and spreadsheets explaining how we can set up any kind of tourney we want, with any kinds of settings etc. I am asking if we can set the stack size and blinds schedule.)

Unless things have changed in the last year, Bodog doesn't allow Canadian players... so us from above the 49th are out...

Re: Thinking about doing a ChipTalk Freeroll
I'd think if all of us that host (or are part of) monthly/weekly games simply put it out there to our groups, you'd be overwhelmed with players. Now, I have no idea how many of those players would then continue to be part of CT. I know us chipaholics are a bit of a unique breed. I've never once played an on-line poker game (they send you to jail in WA state), but maybe this is worth it!

Re: Thinking about doing a ChipTalk Freeroll
Ten,
I feel bad, we talked about cross promoting tournments both here and on the Chip Board, and I have neglected my end. It has been really busy here since school started, and I have played in one tournament total on either board in the last 2 months. I am hoping now that the fall sports season is wrapping up, that I will be able to play more. I think we should try and cross promote this freeroll on the Chip Board. Also, there is a live chat room that someof us over there use occaisionally, and maybe we could get some of the core people here and the core people there together. Just random thoughts.

Specifically because it is a Canadian company. Doing business with Canadians would put in it hot water with our gambling laws.
