I wish I never learned how to shuffle chips, twirl chips through my fingers, roll chips thought the felt, chip flip, knuckle roll, all that good stuff because I can't stop doing it. It's a curse don't ever learn. |

I have to have chips in my hand. I get in trouble at the casino for tapping the table on a check with chips in my hand. Wish I could break the habit too. |

I don't do any chip tricks while playing but I constantly find myself counting out how many chips I have when not involved in the hand. I should probably stop doing that and pay attention to whats happening. |

Wow - so I guess a number of poker players (at least ones who voted on the poll) tend to shuffle / do chip tricks at the table. I guess this makes sense. Does anyone do it to intimidate others (which I guess it wouldn't if you were playing online & had your own side stash of chips) or is that not what it is about? |

I shuffle, twirl, and flip because well I usually get bored. If only you could multi table live. Quote:

Does making several stacks of chips stacked 20 high disappear by playing badly count as a "chip trick" ? |

I don't consider doing chip tricks while playing distracting to myself. This is because I'm constantly doing them when I'm not playing...it's become 2nd nature. If I'm not doing them at the table, something else will creep in and distract me. So, I almost have to do it to stay focused. My tricks (shuffle, thumb flip, reverse thumb flip, twirl) seem to distract others sometimes though--can't be a bad thing.  |
