| | | Removal of Labels
Ok...so I decided that I want to change my blue chips to a NCV, seems as it will be more useful than a $20 which was very useful when we played .10/.20 holdem, but my cash game has begun to expand and I need a cheap alternative, replacing the labels seems to be my best route right now while still keeping some continuity among the chips.
I almost invested in a set of those Coin Centered Jackpot Casino chips but decided against it. Not personalized enough for me!
Anyways, getting to my point. Has anybody tried to remove labels from chips, in large quantities, like 100!??!!!??
Does anybody have any ideas about how to remove these labels?
I was thinking about soaking them in water for awhile, but I don't know how effective this would be. I will be putting a label back over it once they are cleaned, so some adhesive residue won't be that big of a problem. I hope!!
Any comments or suggestions are appreciated!!

| | | Just as a suggestion, (untested) you might try putting them in the dishwasher, on a hot extra soapy cycle? Perhaps in some kind of bag or screen? Maybe soak them first, and then put them in there with the hot water and soap...
I know when I buy new glassware (and I hate unnecessary stickers) that my dishwasher usually takes them off quite well.
Another thought (test first!) that I heard a LONG time ago for taking off bumper stickers goo was to use Coca-Cola. Try soaking a chip or two in some, and see what happens.
I would suggest something like Goof-Off but I would not trust it interact with plastic chips well. Who knows though, expensive and messy, but perhaps worth another try. If it works you would want to do the dishwasher thing afterwards, that is for sure!
I will tell you this, the Coin Inlay Jackpot Casino chips are a STEAL at their price. Every time I bust them out for my ring games, everyone loves them, and quite a few of them are regular casino players. If you have ever played at a casino that uses coin inlay chips, it is surprising how much these feel and sound like the real ones for a fraction of the price, since most coin inlay casino chips ARE plastic around the outside.
Good luck, and to be honest, this is something I have thought about, and hope you me or the lamp post can find a somewhat easy solution to this. However I'm going to bet it all revolves around what lables you bought.  |

| | | Are you talking about Blue Chip "clays"? If so, it might not be a good idea to soak them in anything overnight. You may wake up to find a bucket of pretty mud where your chips used to be. I would try soaking the inlay and the area around it in acetone (nail polish remover) for only a few minutes. I'm not sure if this will work but acetone certainly attacks some plastics. If the inlay peels away and shrivles up you're in luck. |

| | | There's a product that you can buy at hardware stores (maybe Home Depot) called GooGone. It's an orange-based cleaner and it'll clean off the sticker as well as any residue that may stay on the chip, without damaging the chip itself. If you let it soak for a few minutes, they should just peel right off. |

And Cin0s3, thanks for the tip about the ammonia and water. I was hoping that I could aviod some of the labor if possible, i.e. ripping off the label, but that may be where I start! New School Year is coming and I need to spend more time getting ready for that!
