WD-40 takes off most any adhesive residue. Shouldn't harm any plastic chip, I wouldn't put it on a clay chip as the oil/petroleum will soak in unevenly and spot the chip.
I had to remove 2000 labels from my nexgens what I did was use my nail to get one part up then use a tweesers to pull the rest off. I found that that worked well and saved my fingers....
