Chips: 4,436 | | | Hot Stamping? Are there places that you can send your chips for hotstamping?
I've only seen it offered when buying sets, never as a service after the fact. |

Chips: 4,436 | | | I'm in NE Pennsylvania.
What kind of business is it?
I also posted in the general forum and someone there suggested that some print shops do hotstamping. Is it a print shop in Kentucky or are they some sort of specialty shop? |

Kelly is one of the managers and plays in my poker league. I know they do hot stamping because when i went to look at there poker tables they were stamping chips.

Chips: 2,896 | | | Actually if you do a search on eBay you will find used "hot stamping machines" for quite cheap. (approx $300-400)
If you do your own chips and a few sets for friends, it could pay for itself real quick. |

Chips: 1,728 | | Hot stamping chips with one of those hand presses, one chip at a time can get to be a rather tedious process, and it does take a bit of trial and error to get them aligned, so you have to plan on some waste. Then there's the issue of getting the type fonts for that particular press. It might be useful for someone who has the time to kill or has access to relatively cheap labor, but I don't think you're going to be able make much money with it unless it's just as a labor of love. Chips: 4,436 | | That's the conclusion I arrived at as well. I'm going with labels from Jason ( www.pokerchiplabels.net) instead of hotstamping. Quote: |

Chips: 1,728 | | Well, that's going to take even more effort. But in the long run, you might like the results better. On the other hand, I've used hot stamped chips for over 25 years, and it was only recently that some of the younger players expressed an interest in chips with edgespots and color inlays. Worse part of the whole thing is that they prefer a set of labeled RPT Nexgens to a set of hotstamped plain Paulsons Quote: |

Chips: 4,436 | | The labels will take plenty of effort to get them right, but the expense and trouble of getting a hotstamping press make it prohibitive for me.
Sometimes it's nice to have a mindless and repetitive task like applying labels. That'll probably wear off well before I get through the 1000 though. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
