Idea - Seven Wonders?

I've been trying to come up with an idea for some custom labels over the past few days. One I just thought of are the seven wonders of the ancient world. It would fit well with a set I might make, with 3 low denomination chips for cash games, and 4 higher ones for tournaments.

Does that sound like a good idea? I haven't really found anything relating to poker chips in my limited searching, so it would be something new at least. My graphics skills are pathetic at best, though. If I can find some decent reference pictures, maybe I'll send something along to one of the chip labelling people on here Some of their work I've seen has been really impressive, and at a good price.

I haven't received my chip samples yet, but I'll most likely be getting faux clays (while I save up for custom ASMs).

Found a couple of images, did up a quick mockup to get a general feel for the theme...

Slightly better blue and green chips:

I like the idea.

If you can't find good graphics, you might also try seven wonders of the modern world or of the natural world, so you could just use photographs. I don't know if you'd want to do that, but it's an idea at least.

You could then take a trip to the seven wonders with a camera and justify it as an expense in making your custom chipset. :)

Ooo, travelling for chip labels, that sounds fun

The more I think about it, the more I like this idea for a set of labels. It's a classic theme, pretty much everyone is at least familiar with the seven wonders, plus it's different.

I guess modification possibilites would be some kind of small border on the edge, maybe with some text (perhaps the name of the wonder?). And of course, a denomination could be marked on the label somewhere.

I actually liked the original green and blue - the space at the top and bottom leave room for any text or denominations you want to put on them - plus the shot of the hanging gardens looks better with the whole ship.

That would be the Statue of Zeus on the yellow. Fitting to have on the highest value chip. Which could also be fun to strike fear, when you throw a "Zeus" on the table We were playing with those cheap dice chips a few weeks ago, and had black as the highest denom - one person started calling it "Vader", it was amusing.

Hmm, that's a decent idea actually. Having a little space on top and/or bottom for text/denominations. I think it would look a little weird if only some of them had that, though. I didn't really look around too much for different pictures yet, I only wanted to get a rough idea for now. I think the hanging gardens looked better with the whole ship in the image, too.

Ahhh...a Civilization chipset. Takes me back to college days and CivI.

I'm posting now because you just said "Vader" as a black chip which got me thinking (always dangerous):

White - Leia? Luke?
Gold - 3PO
Chocolate - Chewbacca
Blue - R2?
Green - Yoda
Black - Vader

Definately have to work in all the funky colors in the sub $100 range though so the Vader's are the big chip. Who am I missing? Gotta get Han in there somewhere...
