Labeling PaulSons: Cool idea or blasphemy?

I have been playing around with the idea to label my Private Cardrooms from time to time but always decided against it. Now i have seen the quality of Joe´s laminated labels on some PI-Clays in person and found out that they would fit into the recessed area of the PCR´s.
Now, having a new cash-set on the way, i will use them only for tournaments in which every chip has a fixed denom. So there is no need anymore to have them without a denom.
So nothing keeps me away from labeling them, except my conscience.
What´s your opinion, should i do it?

Here are rough mock-ups of what i am thinking about:

If i really do this, i might also need some help from the design-pro´s on the site to help me finish the artwork.

Here is the first testprint i made with my cheapo printer with standard office paper:

They're your chips...do what you like!

I'm working on a label job myself...I've toyed with this idea for a long time and have changed my mind MANY times...currently I'm back to the "go for it" side.

Re: Labeling PaulSons: Cool idea or blasphemy?

I think it's a great idea. I got some hotstamp Paulsons off ebay that I am considering labeling, adding to and making a set out of myself. I think that your labels are really nice and will make an awesome set. Please post some pics and any advice you might have if you go ahead with the project.

Agreed...home Paulsons are plentiful, and should look great with custom labels. (I've been picking up PCRs for a small tourney set that I'm going to label.)

I would throw the BCC Bonds in there as well...they have big centers and are cheaper than Paulson Bonds too.

Re: Labeling PaulSons: Cool idea or blasphemy?

Why not? I say go for it! It's not as if they're rare, uber-expensive casino Paulsons.

Re: Labeling PaulSons: Cool idea or blasphemy?

Thanks for your opinions guys.
So i will figure out how to optimize the design. I think i will have to make some of the fonts a little thicker, that the black background doesn´t bleed into them.
Then i will order samples for 20 chips to see if it really turns out like i hope.
I hope i will get this done fast, but sadly i have to do a lot of work for university in the next weeks. I will post any updates/questions in this thread.
I thought about this for about one year, now i am really satisfied about getting it done asap

Re: Labeling PaulSons: Cool idea or blasphemy?

I don't think its blasphemy with those particular chips, but I wouldn't do it.

My fear is that they won't be "believable" when completed. Labels on Paulsons IMHO just look cheap and out of place since you expect to see an inlay. Sure, I've contemplated this many times as a Paulson person and when those suited molds came out I had that very goal in mind but eventually came to the conclusion that labels look funny on Paulsons. Unsuspecting non-chipper minds will not know or care, but I feel I'd be looking at lipstick on a pig. Pictures might even come out good, but feel and close up appearances will be off....of course thats just my .02 opinion.
