Illustrator Help

For those that are more experienced with Illustrator than I. I am having an issue with exporting .jpg files.

Whenever I do a straight export to .jpg, the file is not viewable by IE or Firefox., and will not upload to Imageshack or anything else. Irfanview opens it no problem, and resaving it in Irfanview with no changes seems to do the trick. Problem is, somewhere along the line, the colors change:

Rudimentary screen capture showing the colour differences.

What am I doing wrong? How can I get Illustrator to export a .jpg that is correct and viewable right off the bat?

Any thoughts from the gurus would be appreciated.

Re: Illustrator Help

Sounds like a color mode issue. Make sure you export your jpgs as RGB, as CMYK jpgs don't open in some software (like IE/FIrefox).

Better yet, instead of using File->Export, try FIle->Save for Web which should give you better control over images exported for viewing.

That's exactly what it is. I remember being confounded by the same thing for the longest time.

Re: Illustrator Help

Okay, we're part way there. That solution worked perfectly, but if I'm sending a .jpg to HogWild, he requested 150dpi. I can't control that through the "Save for Web" option.

Re: Illustrator Help

Export from Illustrator to print a 150dpi jpg? OK, I figured you just wanted to post images or something, but in this case you can do it two ways:

Use the FIle->Export as you did before but make sure you select RGB as the color mode, or use the save for web & set the image size manually.

ie: 2 inch @ 150dpi = 300X300 pixel image
