Chips: 408 | | | PI Clays, Wash/Wipe to Label ??? My PI Clays " L- MOLD " s arriving tomorrow. Have been waiting a long time to afford clay chips. The samples were just great....
To apply my laminated labels, shouild I wash or wet wipe the chips before applying the laminated labels?
Also after applying the labels, how long should I wait before oiling the chips?
Won't be able to sleep tonight waiting for these great chips. I also have some casino chips and I have a real hard time telling the difference.
Thanks ahead of time for your info... |

And wash them with clear water is a good idea to get the "chalk" off, and if not, well, you wasted some water. Won't do any damage to the chips.
For oiling,
put some oil on your index- and middlefinger of one hand and rub the oil onthe mold and the rolling edges of the chip. That way you can avoid the label very easy and also uses a least amount of oil. |

Now having said that I would just let nature do its thing....if you play with these often enough they will naturally gather oil from your hands. Maybe try shuffling a few stacks each day if you dont play that often. |

Chips: 177 | | | Re: PI Clays, Wash/Wipe to Label ??? I'm really paranoid about oiling and applying labels. I feel okay if I get the chips pre-applied with the labels, and then I oil them using the aforementioned techniques. BUT if I have extra labels and extra chips, I superglue those labels first, let them sit for 30 mins or so, then I oil them.
I've oiled about 1000 of the PI clays and I think I need to add more oil them as they dried out fairly quickly and the colors tend to fade out after 2 weeks or so. |

Chips: 408 | | | Re: PI Clays, Wash/Wipe to Label ??? Thanks everyone for your information. I also though about just leaving them alone and letting them oil on thier own. They will get played with every week , so I will wait and see.
Thanks Again.. |

Chips: 626 | | | Re: PI Clays, Wash/Wipe to Label ??? I have oiled some labeled PI samples I have.... I had some with the vinyl label with texture to it.. and a slick standard label... the vinyl ones handled it just fine.... the others .. ok... but I would recommend it to anyone! lol
In all honesty after testing it out I wouldnt necessarily suggest you oil them at all.. They dont really need it and like the others said it could affect the long term adhesion of the label.... wipe them off with a slightly damn clean cloth.. let em dry.. apply label and play! |
