Just got Vinyl samples, Not happy.

I ordered some vinyl label samples from a company i will not name, I don't think it has to do with who did them. The graphics are ok a little fuzzy, but this is not my problem with them. These will not last very long if they want to peel off after a few shufflings. The adhesive is not strong enough, I put them on brand new chips so the chips are not old and dirty.Has anyone had the same problem or did i get a bad batch.I will not get labels from what i've seen of these.Any feed back would be great i was so looking forward to a custom labeled set of chips.

Re: Just got Vinyl samples, Not happy.

Could be the chips too. Do they have a recess?

Perhaps there's some release (grease) left on them from the molding process. A little alcohol should take that off. Do you have any more samples?

Re: Just got Vinyl samples, Not happy.

No they dont have a recess and that is the real problem.I have searched the chips with a recess and dont really like most of them. The nexgens are my first pick, the chips i was trying to do are the crown and wheat ear no metal insert,I like these chips alot compared to most cheap chips.Looks like i have to buy another set of chips if i want custom labels.Think i'll save up for some real custom chips, by the time you factor in chip and label cost, then how much longer real chips last its really much better to wait until i can buy a nice set.I think it was the recess all along, it just seems the labels peel off to easily. Thanks, TheHawk

Re: Just got Vinyl samples, Not happy.

Looks like you answered your own question. There is a good chance there is nothing wrong with the labels, just your selection of chips.

Re: Just got Vinyl samples, Not happy.

As i run 8s mentioned, you pretty much answered your own question. Even if the labels didn't peel off, you would have run into a problem with the abrasion between chips wearing down the label prematurely. Just as a point of reference, you might also want to take into account that chips like the Bud Jones V7 chips that are used in many commercial cardrooms and casinos also use a printed label and they go through more usage on a 24/7 basis than you could ever do in a lifetime (or until some yahoo decides to peel the sticker (aka "decal") off of the chip; it happens in casinos as well.)

Re: Just got Vinyl samples, Not happy.

I would think that a casino or cardroom would use a better label or adhesive or both.I have read about some labels have adhesive that when exposed to UV light the bond is permanat, just something i read.Anyone have more info.?thanks, TheHawk

Re: Just got Vinyl samples, Not happy.

That's hard to say, not knowing what you're comparing it with. It also sounds like you may not have actually ever handled a casino chip, so it would be pretty hard to compare whatever labels you got with that of a casino chip or even a label from one of the established label vendors. The labels from the Bud Jones chips can be removed in one piece, but it takes a little work or a lot of wear. There are indeed vinyls that form a bond via exposure to UV but 'permanent' is often interpreted differently just as things that you read on the Web may not actually be true.
