Chips: 256 | | | How to....? I've looked and looked on this sight and I've seen lots of great mock ups. Now I'm wondering, where do they come from. Like the Condando beach tributes are mock-ups of a mold that doesen't/didn't even exist. So my question is, what programs do people use for custom inlay design and are they the same programs used to mock up molds/edgespot design. Are there two or three programs required to do it all and throw it together? Are there several different available programs, and where do you get them. Finally, are any of them free .
Even a redirect to where this info might be found would be great, cuz I aint findin it on my own. |

We have several members who do 2D & 3D mock-ups of the chips and the inlays. Someone is always willing to volunteer their services to get you going.
Cheers and welcome to the board. |

Go to "Site Tools" drop down arrow near the top of the screen, then click "Poker Chip Factory".

Chips: 125 | | | Re: How to....? I felt the same way after seeing all the cool mock-ups around here. After asking and asking, I realized that unless you are already good with graphic artist type programs, you need someone else to help you. There are a few people who are really cool and will help you for free in their spare time, and a few who are VERY reasonable and do it as a profession (Johnny5, Austin5string, hogwild). I used Lynbark at Lynbark.com. Keep checking and even put out on this forum something you would like someone to make for you and vuala...you may just see it appear |

That is how the medium key mold that I am using on the Coconut Beach chips got done.
I told him what I wanted and..... BAM! it was done. |

Chips: 256 | | | Re: How to....? Thanks for all of your comments, very helpful. I'd still like some ideas for how to do the designs myself, just because i'd like to get into that kind of thing, not because i think i'd do better, just cause i think i'd enjoy it. Again thanks for all the positive response. |

Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator have 30 day free trials,
but are expensive to purchase.
There are free, open source versions - GIMP is a Photoshop like program and Inkscape is an Illustrator type.
I've used Photoshop a little, GIMP a lot, inkscape a little. Some one with more
graphics experience could tell you the pros and cons of each.
If you use GIMP, there is a good web-based book "Grokking the GIMP" that has helped me and I've only read the first few chapters.
Also look at articles under the Articles:Custom Poker Chips here on the board.
The is a chip factory tool here and at sidepot's website, for creating chips - colors, edge spots, etc.
You can load your inlay design into the chip factory tools and use them to
mock up your chips if you want to create chips from scratch.
If you are going with labels, scan or photograph your existing chips and
use the graphics tools to see how your inlays look on your chips. |

Chips: 256 | | | Re: How to....? Thanks for all your help and suggestions guys. I was able to tinker around with ms works and get something that closely resembles what i want for my inlay. Now I was wondering if anyone can help me, with detailed step by step instrunctions (cause i aint gettin it) on how to upload my inlay into the chip factory program here. Under help it says something about cookies, and lets just say, I bake as well as I know computers, not very well. So what the heck do I need to do? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
