thanks for your advice, Brewster. I have inverted some of the inlay colors, and set a light gray for the denominations and the writing. You may notice that gray ring at the outer edge of the inlay: That's actually a 1/32 inch recess to prevent the writing from being too close to the edge. Don't you think that's enough?
Anyway, here you can see the changes I made:

This is supposed to only be one side of the chips, any ideas for the other side welcome - since I have no clue yet.
I am also considering using some type of gray gradient (or possibly pattern) for the background.
