My first Design for Lucky Bees

I've been playing around with Photoshop for some time now, and I've come up with a first draft of my labels for nexgen lucky bees. I know the resolution is poor on the file but the text reads "Assassin's Inn & Gambling Parlor" and the background figures are alchemistic symbols for chemical elements. Any comments appreciated.

Re: My first Design for Lucky Bees

I found the denoms a little hard to read. Perhaps going with the lighter colour from the edgespots for the denom would clear things up. I would also be wary of having text wraping that close to the edge of the label. You may have some alignment troubles when printing them. Other than that, I like them quite a bit.

thanks for your advice, Brewster. I have inverted some of the inlay colors, and set a light gray for the denominations and the writing. You may notice that gray ring at the outer edge of the inlay: That's actually a 1/32 inch recess to prevent the writing from being too close to the edge. Don't you think that's enough?

Anyway, here you can see the changes I made:

This is supposed to only be one side of the chips, any ideas for the other side welcome - since I have no clue yet.
I am also considering using some type of gray gradient (or possibly pattern) for the background.

Thanks for your advice/suggestions.

They look pretty darn good to me. Nice design.

Re: My first Design for Lucky Bees

Thanks. I have now made my first draft for the back of the chip. It shows the silhouette of my hometown Marburg (medieval looking - hence the dark "assassin's inn" theme on the front). I hope you like it.

Again, all comments welcome.

Re: My first Design for Lucky Bees

Love the first side with the symbols. Very nice design.

On the silhouette side, the font is probably too small, and I'd remove the '2006' unless you have a particular reason to want to relabel them every year.

Lastly, the font is warped into a circle rather than being set on a circle, which distorts the text. I think this is a photoshop vs Illustrator thing, and if you are using PS, I'm not sure there is a solution.

I like the overall theme a lot.

Re: My first Design for Lucky Bees

Thanks. You're right, the text is a bit distorted even though I made both front and back with the same function (polar coords in Photoshop). I'll see if I can fix that. Furthermore, I will use a bigger font size on the back.

But still, somehow the back side label is too empty. Don't want to overdo it either...
