Nexgen label help

I have been bouncing ideas back and forth with John (Austin5string) for a couple of months now.

I wanted labels for Nexgen 8000's. I had no idea what I wanted and John did some brainstorming. I wanted a semi-fictitious card room (Hedgewood Card Club -- Hedgewood being a college nickname). The labels will be printed on vinyl by Jason at personalpokerchips.com. Once I am set with the obverse, I'll do a very similar reverse that will have the denom in the center of the inlay (instead of the negative space logo). I'll be putting these on reds, greens, blacks, purples and yellows.

John did some great work and came up with exactly what I wanted. Here is the design we've settled on:

I asked John if he'd dress it up a bit and that's where we've been stuck. John did a killer design but he said he printed a test label and the depth was totally lost.

Now, I feel like I'm not giving John any creative feedback to help him along. I've seen the way members here have collaborated and was hoping that someone here could help jumpstart the process and get the creative juices flowing again.

I talked to John and he thought it's be a good idea. So, who's up to it?

Re: Nexgen label help

I like the top one, which makes it look like the black is carved out to reveal the green undernath, but will the depth show in a printed label? Hogwild?

Re: Nexgen label help

I don't mean to sound ungrateful for the suggestions, but it seems that the only focus is dressing up the interior...don't you think the outer band looks flat?

Re: Nexgen label help

I'm open to suggestions.

I like the first design posted that John did, but the chip looks flat. It was an effort to get over that flat-ness and dress up the chip that led to John's additional work and ultimately this post.

Any help is appreciated.
