A lot of people here mention that they went with the NexGen chips because they were easier to label and have a slight recess. Has anyone tried to label their Sopranos chips and if so, where did you get the labels? Can you post pictures of the various colors and labels you used?
I'm debating between these two sets and I'm leaning towards the Sopranos but not sure since labelling could be tough. Any feedback/suggestions would be appreciated.
PJ, yes the Sopranos can be labeled. But you need to get a very thin label. I'm not an expert on labels, but I think some of the better vinyl/paper labels are very thin. I measured my Soprano samples, and there is a slight recess of .0025" on each side.
Thanks for the feedback... So would anyone happen to know what size labels I should get to apply to Sopranos chips? I'm also going to start looking around for photoshop instructions as to how to setup the image - any quick links or references here?
I'll do a search for it but will have to surf around here since I'm new to the boards.
Near as I can tell, you should use 7/8" labels. This would cover the round flat portion in the middle and leave the small inner circle of white "dashes" visible.
I really like the design of them and hack told me they are 7/8" area with 3/4" printable area... I'm not quite sure what is meant by the printable area. Is that the size of each square that the image is printed on and the diameter of the image is actually 7/8"?
The printable area is a limitation for ASM chips. Depending on how you print these, you may need to leave some space available in your design to account for misalignments when printing labels.
Some of the label pros here probably have more info on this.
Thanks Hack...will definitely have to seek advice from people on this board regarding label size, printing etc.. new to all this.
Also sent you an email to notify you that the link to the .zip file for the psd files is invalid. Shows "page cannot be displayed". Any chance of attaching them to an email?
I just received this reply from a guy I was going to buy poker chips from. He also offers hot stamping and label service and here's what he said about the Sopranos chips:
"I really hate to dissapoint you, but the Soprano chips can't be hot stamped, or take labels. They are just not desigined for either one. It's not that you can't stick labels on them - but the centers are not recessed, and they will be prone to peeling. It just doesn't work well.
All the other chips can be hot stamped - the Nexgen's and Texas Hold'em chips can take the labels."
So question now becomes.... how true is this what he's saying about the Sopranos chips? I'm trying to understand why they can't be hot stamped. Any feedback on this would be appreciated.
PJ...I have some extra labels from the project I just completed. If you have a sample chip, I can mail you a couple labels and you can judge for yourself.
