circle cutters

Just wondering if anybody had ever tried to use a circle cutter or circle punch to cut out labels after they printed them. I think it might work. I know it would involve a lot of labor but it would eliminate the printer alignment issues. You can pick up a punch or cutter that will do 1" circles pretty cheap at scrapbooking stores. Any thoughts?

Re: circle cutters

I don't know of anyone here that has done that, but there could be someone. Give it a try, let us know how it works.

Re: circle cutters

I actually read somewhere about someone doing that. Just buying sticker paper and punching out all his own labels for 500 chips.

Now - I doubt this helps at all - since I have no clue where/who posted the information.

Re: circle cutters

Hmmmm...

My thought would be one of "WOW THAT WOULD BE A LOT OF WORK!"

I use round die punches (here at the office, my graphics shop) and let me tell you that does not sound fun. I once had to punch holes for 80 grommets and my hands were still buzzing the next day from the hammer blows.

I think that I would rather buy 5000 lables to get 1000 good ones, than to punch out 1000 circles by hand.

But that's just my opinion...

Re: circle cutters

The printer that Jason (Hog Wild) uses to print his labels does exactly what you describe. The labels are cut after they have been printed.

Re: circle cutters

That's cool, probably an expensive printer.

Re: circle cutters

thanks for the replys. I am still weighing my options. I have a sister that is really into scrapbooking and will see if she has a cutter or punch that i can borrow and then maybe do a little experimenting

Re: circle cutters

Yeh, doing some tests before taking on the entire thing is a good idea.

Re: circle cutters

It just an inkjet printer ...

He sent me the pictures of the printer before he bought it. We have a similar one at work by another company (no die cutting though). It's maybe a little more than just your typical inkjet, the printer is about 5 feet wide and the printing stock that goes into it can be as wide as 40". It's also a little noisier than your typical home-use inkjet as well, and you're right, it does cost a little more

Re: circle cutters

Oh yeah! Get your sister to do all the dirty work, I like it. WHat did she do to deserve that? I can see the CTS lawsuit coming. It will take days to cut out 500 by hand. Cheaper to get the made!
