Does anyone have a photoshop template for labels? I'd like to play with creating my own but I don't know what size the labels should be nor what resolution the file should be...

You don't really need any sort of template... Just make them about 1.5", 300 dpi and use cmyk colors and the graphic artist for whatever company you go with will be able to work with them...
