Guitar Player Labels - Will this work?

Hey guys,
Im currently having labels worked up by Jason E for my Nexgens.

I really want to do a set featuring my favourite guitarists of the 80s.

I threw together some very quick mock ups of what I want on the chips here:
http://www.healyworks.com/poker/customchipsmockups.html

I like the look of black and white concert photos, so the two pictures that are in colour will be done in greyscale to match the other two. The denoms will be done in colours to match the chips.

My question is, when these are printed at normal size, are they going to be unclear in the smaller format? I realize theyll be very busy labels but Im ok with that, all Im worried about is clarity.

Ive never done anything like this before and Im just not sure if itll work.

Cheers
'Ryan Healy

P.S. A high-five to the first who can name me all 4 guitarists.

Re: Guitar Player Labels - Will this work?

Well, if my memory is working correctly (although it's quite possibly not LOL).. Eddie Van Halen, George Lynch, Randy Rhoads and Richie Sambora.. I'm a child of the 80's, how 'bout you?

I think the images would work okay. The hard part might be having the denomination legible over the top of it all.

Experimenting with different colors and stuff, you should be able to find something that works, though..

Re: Guitar Player Labels - Will this work?

First reply 4/4! Well done!

I am not a child of the 80s. Sadly I was born in 85 meaning I missed it all first time around. My older brother however (15 years older) most certainly was around in the 80s and through him Ive learned of all the great music (rock at least) that I missed out on.

No Jimi Hendrix!?!

Pretty cool idea though. For some unity between the pics you could make each photo a black and white with a coloured denom overtop. That should help it stand out on an otherwise busy background.

I think the 100, 500, and 1,000 you'll be able to tell who it is, the 25 may be to busy when you get to actual size to be able to figure it out. No Yngvie Malmsteen(sp?)? My roommate in college was into metal in the late 80's (if you consider Winger, Nelson, and Poison metal that is). Some funny stuff late 80's, that's for sure (oh wait I was in college in early 90's....even worse, then I discovered Nirvana, RHCP, Ministry, NIN, STP, Butthole Surfers, Faith No more, Pixies)

Re: Guitar Player Labels - Will this work?

While I grew up listening to a fair amount of 80's metal, I was raised on the classic guitar virtuosos of the 60's and 70's.

Eric Clapton
Jimi Hendrix
Jimmy Page
David Gilmore
Jeff Beck
Frank Zappa
etc...

Re: Guitar Player Labels - Will this work?

Brewster,
The plan is to go all greyscale with coloured denoms so Im glad you guys think it will work.

The George Lynch pic is a little dark youre right. Hopefully itll come out ok.

Re: Guitar Player Labels - Will this work?

Ahhh, the good old days.

Have you thought about just using a picture of the guitar the guitarist used? Here are some ideas.

.25¢ Blue Chip - George Lynch ESP Kamikaze 2
$1 White Chip - Zakk Wylde Bullseye
$5 Red Chip - EVH Red, White, Black striped
$25 Green Chip - George Lynch ESP Kamikaze 4
$100 - Black Chip - George Lynch Bones (MOM - JFROG)
$500 - Purple Chip - EVH purple quilted Ernie Ball
$1000 Yellow Chip - George Lynch Tiger

And yes, I was/am a HUGE George Lynch Fan

Chuck

Re: Guitar Player Labels - Will this work?

I would suggest that the $1000 chip should have Nuno Bettencourt's Washburn N4.
