Paint on diamond chips?

I wonder; would it be possible to not add labels to these chips, but paint a simple design on? I was thinking it would be cool to add something even as simple as just a circle in the midde; just something to make them a little different and increase security a little bit. I don't know how this would work or even if it would last long enough to be worthwhile..any insight would be appreciated.
Here is a picture of the chips I have, just for clarification. They do not have recessed centers.

Define "paint." Unless you've got a screen print rig setup, it would take you forevvvvvvvver to paint a substantial number of chips.

That being said, I've been curious if anyone has tried screenprinting chips and what sort of results they had.

Re: Paint on diamond chips?

I believe the process that you're looking for is called "pad printing". I don't know if it would be feasible on those BJ Suits knockoff chips though as the center area is flush with the edge surface and whatever is printed on it may be rubbing against adjacent chips.

UPDATE: Sorry didn't notice the pattern on the chips, but they're of the same construction as the suits knockoffs, the center area on those chips is also flush with the edge.

Re: Paint on diamond chips?

If you mean paint with acrylic or latex paint, I don't know if anyone's done it, but I expect you'll need to use adhesion promoter to help the paint stick. Most plastics need help to hold paint. You can find it at an auto parts store, but it's usually in a spray can.

Re: Paint on diamond chips?

I painted a set for my neighbor once, it was a ton of work becuase it was a couple colors, he wanted NE Patriots logo's on his chips but didnt want labels on them. I set up a little jig to spray them 5 at a time using a stencil. They came out pretty decent but took 40-50hrs of work to do a set of 500. Wish I had some picture of the setup but if you want more details let me know and I can give you a pretty detailed description of how I did it.

What kind of paint did you use, Jason? Any coating over the paint? Was there any tackiness from the paint?

Re: Paint on diamond chips?

I ued accrylic paint because I had a newborn in the house at the time and finished with a matte poly for protection. Chips still look great but he barely uses them so they dont see alot of abuse.
