Krylon Preserve It

Do you guys recommend the matte or glossy? I'm about to run down to the local art supply store and pick up two or three cans (I have 54 sheets of labels coming). That said, how many sheets should one can protect?

I've heard that the matte finish can cause the printing to dull a bit. Is this true? Also, how glossy is the glossy?

Are there instructions somewhere in this forum to tell me exactly how to use the Krylon spray?

I bought the Matte finish, I didn't want the labels to be too shiny, I guess that's your prefernce. As far as directions, spray the labels before you apply while still on the backing, some say to peel off surrounding material, I did it with surrounding on. Use caution when spraying, going too heavy can be bad, the krylon will soak in too far if on too heavy and compromise the adhesive on the back of the label (this is also why I left the surrounding material on, I din't want any krylon getting in contact with the adhesive if I could help it) I wrecked one page of labels by going heavy (not wrecked completely, but they slid on the chips and didn't grip as well, I didn't use them anyway, just kept for repairs). I did 3 light coats on my labels, sold the chips so I can't tell you how they're holding up, but they seemed to hold up well when I did have them.

The glossy is more tricky to work with and goes on heavier than the matte. It adds a VERY deep shine that might actually be a bit distracting at an angle with overhead lighting.
The matte adds a somewhat rough texture which most people have commented makes the overall chip feel more realistic.
Definitely want to stick with light coats and allow them to open air dry (maybe in a garage) for as long as you can stand to keep them off your chips... 24 hours or so is good. This will help get rid of the chemical odor. The smell is not disgusting, but it stays with the chips and is noticeable when they are removed from the case.

I bought my labels from Lynbark, they went on great. Luckily he sends extras so my screw-up didn't mess me up. Whatever he uses for labels, the adhesive is like cement once I placed them that was it, no coming off except in little pieces.

I just applied a coat of the matte last night - take the ventilation warnings seriously - that stuff is strong. Spray it outdoors if you can and well away from anyone that could breathe the vapors. It was my impression that the labels did look darker after they were sprayed, but not duller. I assumed the darker look was just from them being wet but it seemed to stay with them when they dried.
