Chips: 14 | | | newbie here with a chip question Hey guys, im new here but I have a question. Me and a few friends are gonna start havin poker nights and we need some good cheap chips for 6-8 people, so I was thinking a set of 500 with a case would be good, I've been reading topics and reviews about the Faux Clay's and Soprano chips and they seem good, the budget is 40-80 bucks, so what cheap chip set do you think I should buy? |

Chips: 1,818 | | | this might help make the choice easier.
How many colors do you want?
The soprano blue, purple, & black look very similar in low light. This leaves you with White, Red, Green, Black, Grey.
the Faux clays come in a bunch of different colors. I dont own a full set, so I cant tell you if some look similar in low light.

Chips: 4,436 | | I just received my set of Pro Clays yesterday and think they're great. I haven't seen the other chips in person, so I can't say much about them other than that the faux clays are a little too plain for my tastes.
Here's my set of 500. Quote: |

Chips: 501 | | | I voted for the Sopranos chips, but it was a hard choice. All of them besides the Nexgens feel pretty nice, for a cheap chip. The Nexgens are just too slippery for my liking - even if they do look the best.
The Pro Clays feel nice, but are a little on the heavy side. Not a fan of the black and red edge spots, but otherwise nice chips. The Faux Clays have a nice selection of colours, a little on the muted side and a nice plain look (which I like, and ordered plain ASMs last week). The Sopranos feel nice too, and have a simple design that looks great. No need to worry about odd edge spot colours. The only drawback to them would be the colour selection, but the ones you want to use would be ok. The colours of the faux clay outweigh the sopranos, IMO (and still feel good).
At any rate, all of those chips should be far better than the dice chips you can get anywhere. I like the faux clay and sopranos the most, though.

Chips: 4,436 | | | One other factor is that the Pro Clays will be about $120 with shipping, whereas I think the faux clays are much cheaper. I think they're worth it, nut it's certainly more than the amount you posted. |

Chips: 5,913 | | | for 30 dollars and shipping you can get 500 faux clays, and for probably about 10 more (either through ebay or 5stardeal) you can get a case. That brings your total to about 50 - 60 for 500 chips and you aren't going to do better than that money wise.
Plus you will get the best stacking, sounding, and feeling chip in the bunch, and you might be surprised to find that you like the plain colors in the cheap chips.
The 20 - 30 dollars saved can then go towards that first set of real clays that you will inevitably want to buy if you spend any time on this board.
good luck! |

I want so many of these nice sets that are available! Good thing I found this before making some big order for a semi-upgrade from dice chips, though. I was about to order one of the sets from here: http://thenuts.ca/poker_chips.php?subcat=3&subpage=pro - which probably aren't bad for plastic chips, the samples I have are ok. But the faux clay impressed me much more
I think I'd agree with Jim here. Even though my vote was different
