Chips: 10 | | | What about Roulette chips? I was just wondering if anyone had thought about Roulette chips? Where I live in NewEngland, the Foxwoods Casino uses a different chip for their roulette games. Anyone know if these are also made by Paulson like the rest of their chips? They are just "markers" I guess and have no value printed on them. I wouldnt mind using them in a poker game though. Perhaps they would be less expensive as well?
And on a side note, their poker tournament chips are different as well. Also made by Paulson, but feel more "rubbery" and heavier than their regular poker chip. Almost like a Pauson with a metal slug inside. I'll try and grab one next time I go, though its tough as they do an inventory every game.

All your other chips go into pot, then go to another player, and you walk away. You go home, you photograph/scan said chip, you post. Ta-da. |

Chips: 1,861 | | Or, as an alternative to being branded a cheater, just take your digicam to the next tournament The floor manager might even let you photograph the chips outside of a tournament if you told him it was for a group of chip geeks. Of course, they also might be worried you're going to try to counterfiet them and tell you to piss off.

Chips: 10 | | Tried the camera thing on three different occaisions. Got told by pit boss', poker room manager, and dealer to "put the camera away or leave the casino".
Oh suuuuure... you can watch me and prove that I might be cheating, but if I try it on you its another story...I see how you casinos are!!
I think my only chance for the tournament chip is to win a small (or big) tournament and grab a chip at the last second.
Anyone else got some thoughts on the roulette chips? |

Chips: 1,555 | | | Roulette "harvesting" is a unique challenge in of itself. Since these chips are not labeled as denominations, many casinos are free to change the table stakes at any time. Once you "cash out" of the table they do a quick stack count. If they find any missing they will then ask you if you happen to have any of those chips. They don't like it when people walk away with those chips.
Roulette harvesting must be done very carefully and never in quantity.

(Not talking from experience but from what others have told me) | I am talking from experience. Yes, you are not supposed to take roulette chips. You are REALLY not supposed to take roulette chips.
You could buy in for $1 per chip, take some chips, then later cash in for $5 a chip and slip your extra chips into your stack. That's why the chips are identified by Table and by color. But if you were lucky enough to get the same color at the same table on a different day, you could scam some extra money. The casinos don't like this, to say the least. Plus there's the minor point that these chips cost them a little bit (maybe 40¢-50¢?) to buy, and they want to re-use them for a long time.
But if you palm then pocket a few while you're playing, then later walk away with nothing in your hand, you can usually get away with it. Since the casino gets $1 from me for a chip, I don't feel real bad about this, but I don't push it or take more than a few.
So for poker -- yeah, some of the roulette chips are real nice. If you don't mind playing with something that says "Roulette - Table A" on it, you can get some roulette sets on eBay that are Paulson TH&C or Bud Jones chips. Lots of color choices, and only non-denoms of course. But they feel and sound real nice.
Here are some excellent BJ 24-groove chips: Santa Claus (!?!) got me 5 of each color and I LOVE shuffling them.
And here is a BJ "suited" hot-stamped chip.
Search on eBay for Paulson Roulette and you'll find some there. |

Chips: 101 | | | Pretty hard to get quantities of roulette chips to be useful. You might sneak one out to keep and photograph. |

Chips: 1,728 | | | Roulette chips are generally solid color lower grade chips anyway, why don't you just buy the chips? The Chipco Unicorn chips are frequently used for Roulette or fractional values, and they're said to be made by ASM for Chipco. I don't know if you can get them directly from Chipco, but if not, Holdempokerchips.com has them. If you get them directly from Chipco, they'll ship them in chip racks instead of boxes. I think mspatton will sell you the racks separately. |

Chips: 1,728 | | What am I? Chipco's complaint department? This is something you need to address with Chipco. Their phone number is on their web site.
Chipco says they ship their chips in racks, MSPatton says he receives them in racks. If you ordered them in 100 ct. quantities and didn't get racks, then you should probably give them a call and ask them about it. Shipping that kind of quantity in plastic bags can cause all sorts of damage. US manufacturers usually ship chips out in 5x20 cardboard boxes (except TR King who uses 4x25). I've never heard of any US manufacturer ship casino grade chips (even low grade ones) loose in plastic bags. Even Nevada Jacks ships their consumer market ceramic composites in 5x20 cardboard boxes.
