Chips: 1,828 | | | Polyurethane?? Check out this auction... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...184188615&rd=1
Would you pay over $1 each for chips that were coated with polyurethane by the previous owner. 2 people already bid on this item. Am I missing something here??
I like this comment... "But do note, the chips may stick together a little when stored together for long periods, otherwise, they stack and slide nicely when in play."
What happened to using a little mineral oil to bring out the luster of the chip and still keeping the integrity intact? |

Chips: 11,784 | | | Yikes, those look beat! I'm thinking the poly was not the best idea he ever had. Too bad he ruined what were probably nice chips.

Chips: 29,466 | | Well, I guess that's one dumb-ass way of keeping the colors from rubbing off on each other.

Chips: 103 | | | Next we will have varnish, shellac. When colors faint out, trying staining, then finally a new paint job. |

Chips: 1,728 | | Heh. Somehow I had a feeling that someone would eventually do something like this. I would have never thought that anyone would have had the gall to try and then pawn them off on eBay though.
'ruined what were probably nice chips' is definitely the operative phrase here. Quote: |

Chips: 303 | | Wow. Polyurethane sounds so... permanent
Offhand, I can't think of a way to remove it without significantly altering the chip. Methelyne Chloride will cut the varnish, but obviously reduce the chip to mush. Mechanically removing it may work, but you'd need the hands of a surgeon, and the patience of a saint.
I've used mineral oil with reasonable success, however I'm trying lanolin as an alternative. Short-term results look promising. Has anyone tried this over an extended period? |

Chips: 102 | | | I think this guy should be arrested for aggravated stupidity. There should be a law against destroying perfectly good poker chips, but I digress...
P.S. I have actually used olive oil on my BC JBs with limited success. The effects only last a few months. |
