Question Ordering chips in Australia

Can anyone get me up to speed on what our options in Australia are for buying chips? pokershop.com.au and npl.com.au are all I can find that have a half decent selection. Even then we're paying more than double what the Americans do, but shipping a 500-1000 chip set from overseas costs hundreds of dollars . "Budget" chipsets for $400 feel significantly less "budget".

I don't know really know the answer to your question in regards to where to buy chips locally. However, if you are buying from an individual or a company willing to ship via USPS, you can ship about 500-600 chips for $48 (USD) using a flat-rate Priority Mail box. Takes 6-10 business days, comes with tracking, and you can optionally purchase insurance as well.

Re: Ordering chips in Australia

My advice would be that unless you are really set on one of the budget chip sets on an Australian site, go for a better quality set on here (in the classifieds) or eBay. The price difference will be small but the quality difference will be huge.

You could also see one of the sponsors sites on here and get the same budget set cheaper, even allowing for shipping.

GL.

Re: Ordering chips in Australia

same as what B.C. said, i've had all my chips (usually around 2-300 at a time)shipped for a reasonable price, my 1st set, Noirs from Sidepot if i recall set me back about $70 shipping for 800 chips, and mate the Aus. dollar was a joke back then

Re: Ordering chips in Australia

For instance, I've seen ebay sellers quoting $130 shipping and DiscountCasinoGear quoting $180 for USPS shipping. That's like getting 500 Pharohs from ApachePokerChips and throwing them in the trash! Is the trick to get them shipped without a case a few hundred at a time? Thanks for the input.

Re: Ordering chips in Australia

The USPS mid size flat rate boxes ship for around $50, the large ones ship for around $60. Could fit a good number of chips in either one. I would contact Josh at Apache and ask him what he can do for you.

(just checked Apache site, price quote on a 500 chip set to you is $78 )

Re: Ordering chips in Australia

I've had a few lots of 900-1000 paulsons shipped by Jim at The Chip Room for around $60 and similar from Apache.

Some internet sellers look at international shipping as just another way to make money IMO.

Re: Ordering chips in Australia

depends on what your chasing, there's lots of nice chips in the classifieds here, i've purchased from a few CT members with great results including fair shipping prices, ebay can be a mixed bag

Re: Ordering chips in Australia

Thanks for the info. If it's possible to get $60-$80 shipping, that does make it more feasible. Sounds like it might involve some email exchanges with the sellers.

Just forget eBay and check out the sponser sellers here. More trustworthy and better communication.
