Being rather new to poker (and living in Europe) I'm amazed that people are actually able to get away with such things in the US - I thought everybody there knew what chips were supposed to be made of....but that's just me being prejudiced. I guess only a small part of the US population is actually actively involved in poker and even fewer have actually played in casinos?

Hey Stank1000, are those your chips and you're trying to hype them up here? Those chips are bad quality, just look at the suit details specially the club suit, that detail is not even worth $80, but like I said if those are your chips then that's a different story.
