| I have a set of these chips, and compared to the samples I have of the 2005 JB Paulsons they are definitely of a lesser quality. Of course they are about 40 cents cheaper per chip so this shouldn't be a surprise. Some differences are the sound, the BC Bonds have a little higher pitched sound to them while the Paulsons are more of a thud, also some of the inlays on the BC Bonds are off as in they are stretched toward one side while the Paulsons are perfectly set in the middle although the size of the inlay is much smaller. The mold on the BC's are weaker in my opinion than the Paulson's because the clamshells or flames aren't as visible as the hat and cane on the Paulson's, although I don't like the fact that the Paulson's actually say Paulson Chips on them. I actually prefer the Blue Chip edgespots more than than the Paulson's but that is based on preference though. I have used the chips twice so far and I haven't had a chip break or crack yet so that's always a positive and the chips color and edges are improved after some play, I didn't use mineral oil on them though I'm sure that would work. Also, the BC's don't seem to be picking up much grime while some of my Paulson samples looked terrible after only a couple hours of shuffling. Also, I think you can find a better price than the .89 per chip Apache is advertising. The Spinettis deal daveyboy mentioned and also I know Gameroomsupply had them for a similar price, although their site is down right now. Also, I know most of the inlay problems were on some of the low denom chips and most of my 25s, 100s, 500s, and 1000s aren't afflicted as much by the offset inlays so you might consider just ordering the higher denom chips. I'd suggest you order a couple samples of each chip before you make your decision. |
