Chips: 24 | | | ChipCo Egyptians vs. The Group Buy Egyptians What are your thoughts? I really like the full graphics on the ChipCo's, and I'm an Egypt nut. They are about $1 per chip, and I see the Paulson Group Buy will be a little cheaper per chip (I think it is estimated to be ~$.89 per chip).
Are the Paulson's a lot better than the ChipCo's? I definately like the graphics on the ChipCo's better, but really want the best chips. Chips will just be used for my home games... Thanks! |

Chips: 145 | | | You really can't go wrong with either. There are those that like the full graphic ceramic chips and there are those that won't accept anything less than clay (especially Paulson clays). It all boils down to personal preferences. |

Chips: 298 | | | the chipco eqyptians are very nice and colorful, ceramic type chips. Personally i like the sound and feel of clays which is why im buying the egyptian paulson clays. You could order samples of each and compare for yourself to see which one you prefer. |

Chips: 24 | | | I have a sample set of the ChipCo's already coming.
I didn't think you could get samples of the new Paulson Pharoh's yet, if you can, where can I order a set from? Link? Thanks again... |

then you can go to holdempokerchips.com and get a sample set of the chipcos.
that oughta make your decision easier. |

Chips: 1,861 | | | Like the other posters have said, the're both quality chips, it boils down to personal preference. If you have casinos around you, go play at a couple to get an idea of how more than 5 of the chips act together. Some rooms will use paulsons (top hat and cane) and some will use chipcos. There might be a room that uses bud jones too. After you get your samples you'll be able to tell which is which at a glance.

Chips: 9,309 | | | Like others have said, both are top-notch chips.
IMO:
Chipco PRO: Full face graphic. Available now (and so are samples). Have you seen the octagonal $1000 chip (really sweet) and the $5000 plaque (very nice but not quite as sweet).
Chipco CON: The sound is not as nice as clay and they are non-traditional. About 10% more expensive (but should be cheaper than the clay chips will be after the initial offering). Paulson.
Paulson PRO: Clay chips with tradtional clay sound and feel. Great edgespots. This is the 2.0 version of the Egyptian theme for Ten. He did a great job on 1.0, but IMO the design is superior.
Paulson CON: Not available until sometime this summer and no samples. Not even a final design yet. Probably will have the smooth inlay - you have to handle some of the new JB Paulson's to know what I mean, but this is a real downer. Still don't know what the mold will be like.
For me, if the inlay fits the mold and it's textured - it's a no-brainer; I'll get 500+. If it's one or the other, I probably will. If they are carbon copies of the JB's (and last I heard, this is unlikely), I may well go with something else (Martini Cub or the new Mardi Gras chips from holdempokerchips.com). This is why I haven't signed up on the pre-order form.

Chips: 183 | | | You really can't go wrong with either choice, but definately buy samples because I am sure you will have a preference. I believe that most people prefer clay to ceramic, but there are also those who prefer ceramic to clay.
I love clay chips and would never buy anything but clay. It is kind of like plastic cards to me, I can't use cardboard ever again now!!
Just spend the extra 10-20 dollars and get samples and take your time. Also sample chips other than Paulson!! TR King manufactures a VERY nice chip in my opionion, so does ASM.
If you are asking for what people would choose, I would go with the Pharaoh's Club's...

Chips: 24 | | I ordered a sample of the chipco's last week, should be here any day now... And I just ordered the Paulson's from the link posted above. Right now I'm really torn between the two, but I guess my decision will be easier once both samples arrive. |

Chips: 202 | | | Other pros/cons:
ChipCo graphics wear down after awhile, especially around the edges.
Paulsons will wear down around the edges eventually (like you see in casinos).
My personal opinion is Paulsons all the way, the feel is unmatched by any other home chip. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
