Chips: 174 | | | What was your first chip set?? Did you get ripped off?? Mine was a tin can full of plastic chips abot 10 years ago, but last year I got back into chips and bought the 11.5 gram dice chips with hot stamped denoms.
I paid abot 90 dollars after shipping, so yes I got ripped off.

Chips: 2,131 | | Well, not counting the Hoyle plastic chips that we all started out with, my first set was the Costco set of 500 11.5g composites which I bought late last year for $60. These were the "good" ones, kind of like Kingpins or Archetypes, but much better. I don't think there is an insert in them, but if there is, it isn't steel (they're non-magnetic). Definitely not a rip-off. It was these chips that got me into my current chip-mania when Costco stopped carrying them. As I searched the Web for similar chips and got samples, I realized how inferior most others "composites" were, and fortunately stumbled upon pokerchipreviews.com, the TH-P forum, and the Paulson JB group buy . . . the rest is history.
(Yeeeeah, just made Nexgen chips rank with that post. . .) |

Chips: 56 | | | my 1st "set" (cheap bikes aside), was a 300-dice from pokersource...before they were pokersource...was an ebay offer at the time...then got a second set the same way (as a signup bonus)...so 600 free chips...not a rip-off |

Chips: 5,789 | | | First set I ever actually paid for were 700 8g Super Diamond Chips about 2 years ago. They were 50% and I thought they were a steal at about 0.18/chip. I bought them from a local store that was closing down. |

Chips: 18,394 | | | - 300 chinese 11.5g dice (actually suits) chips
- white, red, green, black with heavy oak case
- from eBay
- about $65 w/ shipping
- don't feel ripped off... they are what they are
- I wanted to replace them shortly after I got them
- but they worked great for games
- when I complained about them and said I was going to just throw them away, the college kids jumped all over me wanting them |

Chips: 298 | | Plastic Hoyles of coarse but I am still looking, most likley it will be some of TEN's new Paulson Pharohs. I did get 800 of the Honey Bee's 8 gram chips to get buy until I decide. I keep waffling between clay and ceramic. I really do like both. |

Chips: 1,555 | | | My first chip set was also a set of plastic Hoyles. Later on that group was mixed together with a set of Jack Daniels plastic chips from another friend. Later down the road when we needed a 4th color I bought about 50 black diamond chips (and back then I thought those were good).
Over the last few years I grew tired of the old plastic chips and decided to bite the bullet. So late last year bought a new set of 650 NexGens with 4 colors. Over the last month supplimented those with 2 more colors and up to 690 chips in the set. Love em. |

Chips: 44 | | I don't think I got ripped on my first set. It was a 200 set of cheap plastic chips by Cardinal that cost me somewhere around $18. Now I know that I could've gotten the faux clays for cheaper, but hey there were the best thing that Toys 'R' Us had at the time and I wanted to play that night. They're not the weighted down ones, just plastic with suits on the wrap. They served me well enough, but I'm very happy I've since upgraded. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
