500 "Desert Palace" dice chips, with denominations. I actually don't have any problems with them for the home game, right now, although I will be upgrading soon, probably to Paulsons. The dice ships were a quantum-leap beyond the chips we were previously using, so no complaints overall.

First game (Nov 03) was played with change..

Next game (Dec 03) was played with bicycle chips from Wal-mart.

In February '04 I splurged and bought the best chips ever.. 500 dice!! Well, at least I thought they were the best chips ever.. LOL..

Then in the summer '04 I got serious about poker, started reading more, playing more, and spending more time talking to chip snobs online.. And you know what happened? I turned into a snob myself!

I bought a bunch of used 10 chip lots of Paulsons from ebay. Started collecting from casinos, and got another set of 300 dice from an online deal (www.givemechips.com). Somewhere along the way I acquired about 200 saltine cracker (ie, All In) chips.

I am currently without a good set! But I am working on it. I work through the comps at www.ecasinodeals.com, and they just picked up the Paulson JB set as one of the items in their store. They also offer the NJ skulls and the NJ Desert Sands. I assume I will end up with one of those three sets.

Summer '05? Just a bit ahead of yourself? Or is there time travel at work here? Can you get me next Wednesday's Powerball numbers?

My first set where 11.5 gram clay composite King's Casino chips. They cost around 100 dollars Canadian after shipping and customs for 500 chips. They were terrible. They were so uneven you couldn't even stack them more than 5 high without noticing a major problem. So yes I got ripped off

First 'real' set was diamonds in 00, 300 for $75! Took them back just two hours after purchase because they weren't real clay.

Continued playing with hoyal chips until I found crystal parks on ebay in early '01. Ordered 1000 fro $525 shipped overnight I'd say I got a fairly good deal

Ive got two sets (1000 total) of the composite chips from Costco. They've been good, but im ready for something better.

This summer I will be ordering 1300 - 1500 custom clay chips from pokerchips.com. Ive got the colors picked out, I just need to decide on the design and i'll be good to go. I am validating this purchase on the fact that I can pass them down to my son when he is of age, and they will have a bit of meaning to them years after im gone. Or at least get the owner some cash if they're in a pinch.

My first purchase was very recent and was an antique french gaming set, with bakelite chips and plaques, and a set of Gitanes playing cards, in the French language. You may have seen this set on eBay last month, and I did a transaction with the seller after the auction expired, due to an unreasonably high reserve. The set is too small (in size and chip quantity) for a ten-man game, but it is very cool, especially for a small game, or for a travel set. I wish I had a picture of it to show you. doc
