Chips: 3 | | | Your Opinion on Poker Chips Now that the 'old' paulsons are commanding ungodly sums of money on ebay, if you bought a set of __________(insert your $$$$ favorite chipset) would you actually use them in your home games? I wouldnt, I think my limit is around $1 per chip. What if someone invited somebody who you didnt exactly trust hehe. When it reaches $2 a chip i'd be worried about losing, breaking, them etc... But on the other hand, they're so damn nice, why wouldnt I want to play with them. Then again, why do I want to feel like Im playing at a real casino anyways? hence the term 'home game' Again, I hate the fact that I found these forums, other wise i'd be perfectly happy with buying 1000 chips from costco ($12 heh. I remember when using plastic bicycle chips were sufficent or pennys for that matter. |

Chips: 18,394 | | | Absolutely, use 'em.
But some of the folks on these forums have to decide WHICH of their many sets to use, not just WHETHER to use them. |

Chips: 684 | | | If you spent $75K on a new Lexus, Mercedes or BMW, would you leave it parked in the garage? Or would you drive it around where it might get damaged in an accident?
My point? ==> There's no point in spending good money on nice things if you never get to use them. |

Alternatively: Take out insurance on your poker chips?

Chips: 1,861 | | It's homeowner's/renter's insurance. Just photograph them and put them with the other photographs of the stuff you've insured against fire/theft. You DO have those photographs, right? Mine are web-based, 'cause having those photos in the house wont' do a damn bit of good if the house burns down

I've spent lots of money on nice poker chips but I hardly ever use them during our games. But I get to watch the other players enjoy them while they make me deal. |

Chips: 2,046 | | | I like having more than one set of chips to rotate from game to game. this helps for security reasons because no one really knows what chipset your going to use on any given day. Now having said that after gettin a really good set of clay chips it`ll be hard not to use them because they are so much better than anything else you probably own, and does make a statement when playing with these chips. Seems it just takes time to go from kitchen table to holdem table , cheap chips, to clay chips, but once done you never go back, such is evolution, keep making it better. |

Chips: 1,288 | | | If I had a Ferrari or Lotus, I would drive it around, but probably wouldn't drive it in the rain and likely wouldn't leave it with the 18 year-old valet. Now, maybe, you get his point. That said, you gotta play with them, that's the whole point of getting them, I hope... |

Chips: 226 | | I agree with all here as well why save up for something that you really want then you get it and then you never use it?makes no sense to me.If you can afford the finer things in life then by all means go for it and enjoy the things you have because someday you will not be around to enjoy them..and if your worried about someone damaging your "good" chips in your home game just make sure you play with normal people who wont try to damage your chips on purpose to try and see how they hold up cause I know in NYC in our games you wouldn't last 2 mins at the table if you were into all that crap... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
