i put a post in the custom chip forum with pics of $1 blue chips. It's a poll towards the bottom. It's funny that over half of the people who voted actually thought blue should be a $1.
The Nevada casinos tend to use either blue or white, most of the California casinos and cardrooms tend to use shades of blue, though there isn't any consistency even within casinos even if they're owned by the same management company (e.g. Harrah's Entertainment). I believe that Atlantic City casinos are mandated to use specific shades of colors by New Jersey's gaming commission and white is the designated color for the $1 denomination.
Over the years though, there hasn't been any specific color mandated for casinos in Nevada. I remember when Harrah's used $1 yellow, $2.50 green, $5 red, $25 black, and $100 white brass slugged chips back in the 70's and 80's that differed entirely from the color schemes used in all of the other casinos. And that was back in the days when casinos informally accepted chips from other local casinos at their tables (the chip went directly into the drop box with the currency).
