Compression Molded vs. Injection Molded

OK, it looks like I may try and get a 500 piece set of Desert Palm chips, but how does one know by looking at the chips being sold if they are "Compression" molded, or "Injection" molded if the site does not indicate it? Maybe a little different coloring, sequence in markings, etc... ?

( I also like the Paulson Private Cardroom)

Re: Compression Molded vs. Injection Molded

It's actually very hard to see the different over the web because the DP's have the same mold and inlay on both. I suggest getting samples of both.

A very short description of the difference you will feel is that the compression molded (clay) will have a slightly chalky feel, will adhere together in stacks, and have a "clacky" sound when riffled or thrown into a pot. The injection molded (plastic) will be very smooth, will be slippery against each other, and will have a much softer sound when riffled or thrown into a pot.

(Also, you can't go wrong with Paulson Private Cardroom, those truly are exactly the type of chip you'd see in a casino. You have to be happy with a hotstamp chip, no graphics)

Re: Compression Molded vs. Injection Molded

I would ONLY get compression molded Desert Palms through the marketplace section here (through the chiproom) in the link that ovo provided above. You'll be 100% certain that they're truly compression molded chips and at a fair price too. Other places may say they're the same chips but until you get them I'd have my doubts, especially if the price is under 35cents a chip. BTW, the compression molded chips are at least twice as nice IMO, so don't take your chances on what "might" be a compression chip
