Newbie with chip question... Hello
Hi everyone, I am relatively new to Poker, but at it long enough to want to get a set of my own chips for some home play. Unfortuneatly I do not have the extra cash to get myself a nice Clay set of chips. But I would appreciate any advice for a decent set of 500 chips with Denominations on it, in the $100.00 to $150.00 range. I know my dollar amount limits me, but I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!!!

This custom ChipTalk link is built to show you only the real deal: Casino quality poker chips; Not the plastic chips that some sellers call "clay."

Hello and welcome to chiptalk! I would look at what Joe at palm imports has. If I recall correctly the casino royale blanks are something like $0.17 each and the the china clays are always a good buy (not sure of the exact price but they are inexpensive). You can also pick up amazing labels fron Joe at $0.07 each label and they are custom!
cheers

Are you playing cash or tourney and for how many people? I have a set of ceramics I'm thinking of letting go that may work for you...

Re: Newbie with chip question... Hello
i would save $250-300 for real clay, like clays from thechiproom.com. dont waste money on chips that "call themselves" clay but are really plastic.

Dude! Cash or tourney my friend.
Cash set then go with Aztar, you can't beat the price. You should see them on eBay or classify here on Chiptalk. Good luck and don't forget to post pictures.

I would go with some Blue Chip Company heavyweight solid's with hotstamps on them for .55 cents each. They are a very good quality chip, and meet your criteria of showing denominations.
Not that these are low end, but a great price within about the $300 range for 500 chips (if you are getting sold on raising your budget).
Again though, what game, and how many players? 500 chips may or may not work for you depending on these details.

Re: Newbie with chip question... Hello
What about TCR Desert Palm clays, or the Dunes Commem clays? THose are less than .50 each right?

+1.
What are you playing and what are the blinds and how many people? I would guess that you don't need 500, but again, we really don't know without more info.

Re: Newbie with chip question... Hello
This site is great, I am geting a lot of info from these replies. As far as what I am looking for, I like the idea of doing a Tournament over here and would expext 6 to 8 players at the most over here. Depending on the denominations I end up with would determine my Buy In. But then I also played some 3, 6 Poker recently that I liked, so I was thinking of getting lower denominations like $1, $5, $25, $100, and $1,000 so that I could still do both.
Sorry if I don't really know what I'm talking about here with the Chips, but I really am somewhat new to playing Poker at this level with Chips or money. My past Poker was limited to playing for fun at gatherings.
Thanks for the responses all!
