those are indeed compression molded clays, I have always loved the H mold.

you can check www.pokerchipsonline.com for all of the ASM mold styles, colors, and prices.

Yes they are but the colour combinations are not to everyone's tastes and they are only in 312 inserts. Get a sample of these from Marlow to see if you like them - David Spragg is pretty good with shipping and you will have them in a couple of days.

If you order directly from ASM, there are a number of excellent edgespots available to the public and even more to Chiptalk members although I am not sure whether these are available as blanks.

Do a search for threads from JimB as there is a special offer page available to Chiptalk on ASM's website - I think they were selling off extra 312 circle square mold blanks a while ago.

Be warned - either of the above will be more expensive than your budget but are infinitely better than dice chips.

Re: Chip set for £50-£60 from the UK?

Just looked at the Marlow website again and saw that he has sample sets of the ASM Key West chips available - the chips have been discontinued but the sample set is a way to see if you like the feel of inlaid chips compared to the blanks.

You can also buy samples of the various Paulson chips from him aswell which will allow you to compare ASM and Paulsons.

He offers ceramics so you might as well buy a sample set of Chipco ceramics and MrChip.eu sells ceramics on the Sunfly blank for comparison.

All of these sample sets are on this side of the pond so should be with you pretty quickly.

THEN TAKE YOUR TIME TO DECIDE WHICH YOU PREFER. My advice is to go for the best set you can afford now otherwise you will regret not doing so and will have upgraded in a year or so.
I have been down this road (as have most Chiptalkers) - there will always be a better set which you strive for.

If you cannot afford a top range clay or ceramic set now - consider building the set gradually by buying 100 chips at a time - this is what I did. I now have playable sets of Samurais, Pharoahs, Egyptians, Paulson World and a small set of Proteges as well as 1300 Nexgens which were probably the best you could get in the UK 4 years ago.

They are certainly clay chips, if the mold and edgespots are to your liking and you are not wanting an inlay (or can't stretch to it) then they could be.

I just picked up a 500 set from Paulson Poker Chips, Paulson Clay Poker Chips For Your Home Poker Game, end cost £240.

You can get solid chips from ASM or with your choice of different edgespots from I think $0.65 each, for level one edgespots on the H mold. I may be adding to my set using those.
