Pick up real chips from Casino

Hi!

I have a friend who´s going to Vegas in October. Is It possible for him to "buy" chips from a casino there?
I´m looking for a cashgameset, so can he for example pick up 200 1$chips and maybe 200 $.25 for use as 25´s from Bellagio or whatever? (250$ total) Then It´s only the 5´s left (and maybe some 100`s).
I understand that this probably Is very stupid but somehow maybe?
I mean, If he want chips to sit down at a table, cant he get like 200 of each and just go away with them?

They'll let you buy the $1 and up chips, but the fractionals will be very hard to get in any quantity. They've kinda figured out that they lose at least 50 cents/chip for every fractional that doesn't come back.

I guess that you mean that getting 200 .25´s are to much? =)

I would think you will be hard pressed to find any fractions (.25 anything less than $1) in a Las Vegas casino. I go there about 6 times a year for the last 10 years and have not seen playable fractions below $1.

I think getting 20 quarters would be too much!

Have you seen the Caesars Palace $1 chips? Much nicer than Bellagios IMO, and since you're investing in a long term cash set I'd prefer looks and feel over the Bellagio name

To be honest i really dont like the Ceasars that much. I love the MGM´s though. You guys maybe have more suggestions at great $1 thats available to buy in Vegas?

Re: Pick up real chips from Casino

If you're lucky, a casino will introduce a new rack or add to their existing rack around the time your friend is there, or a new casino will open, and you will like the chips.

Tips are part of the process when asking for something special from the cage such as a couple racks of minty fresh chips.

If you don't want to wait and don't mind paying more than face, check out Apache Poker Chips here.
