Looking for a good clay set

I have been looking online for some decent clay chips. I'm trying keep cost down but if the lower cost alternatives are bad i will just buy a set of ASM or Paulsons.

50 - 10g BLACK Casino-Clay Poker Chips

I found those and they are listed as 10g clay chips that compare to Paulson? Who makes them and does anyone have any experience with these?

Should i be looking at something else?

Hi Mike

They are known as Progens or china clays, they are nice chips but the link you posted the price is a little high.
Google "progen poker chips" and you should be able to find them for less.
Here is a link to the same chip but with a different mold for 8¢ less per chip.

Most people call this mold the "sprint mold", the progen's have the large key mold.

Keep in mind that these chips are sold with out a label, no denominations and a step below a true clay chip....i.e. paulson, ASM & Blue Chip but they are a lot of bang for the money.

One last thing....have you checked all the classifieds here?

I have a tourney set of the Palm Imports Private Cardroom and a cash set of the Dunes. I think that they are great (I have had Sopranos, Faux and Dunes injection previously).

Thanks. All those options look good to me. Used chips are definitely ok - these are going to be used. I'll keep an eye in the classifieds.

The private cardroom chips are just a labeled version of these?

I should also note, i am in Canada if that changes anything.

Yes,

Per the thread in that link that I posted above, you'll see that Joe (Palm Imports) kicked off this style of chip. The same factory now spits out chips using this material and process (Pyramids/Progens) for other importers. Indeed, I think that the ones that you first posted (Pryamids without the labels) are the sprint mold that Palm Imports dropped because it was too similar to BCC's flame mold.

The latest Dunes (and Desert Palms) are the only one of this type that appear to be truely different (i.e. probably done at another manufacturing facility). They feel (and smell) a bit different (i.e. a subtely different material), however, they are very similar (I have both).

So at a cost of say 200$ for the blanks and then maybe another 100$ for custom inlays assuming i get a 500 chip set or thereabouts. Have you used these in comparison to ASM or Paulsons?

The price difference doesn't seem that crazy (200$ more) and then with Paulson or another high end chip i can easily resell them. I'm getting some samples from a member so that will hopefully make my decision easier.

I have an ASM Hot Stamped Cash set. You can get 500 chips, choose your colors for a decent price (.65 a chip I think/that is with edge spots). If you want solids their even cheaper.
