Re: Store bought Paulsons are not real Paulsons?!?!?!
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the difference in feel is due to differences in
pigment composition. I'm sure that pigment makes up 50% or more of a chip's volume, so it's got to be a big deal. If a pigment is made from an iron-oxide, or titanium dioxide, or dye-precipitate, it's going to make a difference in feel.
For example, day-glo paulsons feel and sound different from other paulsons. Also, the home-market paulsons do feel kind of soft to me, and they have terrible color transfer problems, but I find the Wynn and MGM $1 chips to have similar issues. I don't really see any reason to doubt Paulson's claim that the home-market chips are the same as their casino chips.

I don't know about the new Paulsons made for the home market, but the Pharaohs can't match the feel of a real casino set of Paulsons.
I'm in the same camp as C&C. The current Paulson home market chips are really nice, but there is something different about the hat and cane mold chips.

Well i have never gotten a hold or even felt a Paulson or real clay chip. The ones used in the casino around here (Montreal) feel like plastic chips with a metal ring like the bud jones...

FYI it helps to have a half dozen or more to bang together to really get a good feel for clay chips and the differences between the different kinds.
