Hello ALL, first of all I would like to say that this is a great poker community I

am very happy that I found out about this place and proud to be a part of it.

I am from Israel , currently running a home game with Dice chips . for a long time I wanted to get new chips with Denominations written on them and besides that I wanted to get something Quality and that looks good , but not to spend a lot of money on it . the problem is that because I am from Israel and poker is not legal here , chips with Denominations are considered gambling and are not allowed.
well I was thinking of getting like chips and maybe copy someones labels to get things going but i am afraid that they wont let the chips and the labels into the country .
1. Has anyone had experience in these kind of cases??
2. what should i do in order to get new chips that are not the simple Dice or Suit ones??

You can still find some really nice chips with designs and inlays without adding denominations. These would be nice looking chips that are high quality, yet will keep you from getting arrested or having your chips confiscated. I'm sure when you play now with the dice chips you own, each player simply must remember the amount each color chip is worth. This would be the same scenario if you ordered a new set of quality chips without the denomination printed. I've heard it suggested that you might want to create a poster or card showing each chip color and how much it is worth. This would help players remember, but I'm not sure if it would still be illegal for you.

If you are interested in getting a better set of chips, I would recommend just getting ones with nice designs but without denominations. Hopefully, this will allow your chips to make it to you safely and without being confiscated by customs. Good luck!

One question (and it may not be easy to find out the answer) ...

Are simple numbers considered denominated? I'm thinking a chip with $25 on it vs 25 with no currency symbol.

There are a few options for nice chips without denoms.

Hotstamped ASM with just initials.
Michael at holdempokerchips.com may still be hotstamping his T-mold chips.
Apachepokerchips may have some Private Cardroom non-denoms.
Non-denom Pharaohs.
From the ceramic side - American Beauties.

Lastly consider - printing your own labels for Nexgen chips.

I'm curious about the law in Israel... I've never heard of anything like it before. Is it a religious issue? That would be weird, as I've played with several observant orthodox Jews in the past.

I'm with Matthew as far as wondering about whether chips with numbers but without currency symbols would be allowed. There are several nice options for such chips-- Private Cardrooms and National Poker Series are two possibilities. Also, since I assume $ and euros are not legal tender in Israel, I'm wondering if even denominated chips would be ok, so long as they are in foreign currency?
