We use .25s and .50s as well as .05s and .10s in our .25/.50 and .05/.10 cash games all the time and it doesn't cause any problems at all. In fact, it's no different than having t500s and t1000s on the table at the same time.

As long as the denoms are on the chips there's no "real" reason not to use them.

I played in a game once where they tried to do $.25 & $.50 chips with NDM's - very confusing to say the least

This is the point I was going to make also, as long as there are denominations on the chips, I can't see any reason not to use them. Especially at 0.25/0.50 blinds.

Non denom just turns into a shambles if the denominations are too close together.

i use .25 and .50 chips at the same time, but only for .50/1 limit. for .25/.50 we only use quarters and .50/1 we only use fifty-centers.

i think its great to have both.

as for the for the 3-4 times rule...i only apply that to tourneys/sit n gos, because the blinds raise and the smaller denoms need to be colored up.....whereas a cash game you can always have your 25 cent and 50 on the table all night..

If I play .25/.50 I would buy more .50 not quarter (if you are using both chips .25/.50)

In our low limit games we use .25 and .50 and $1 and $2. The chips are denominated and it's only 4 different chips on the table. It works fine and makes me happy looking at all the pretty colors.

When I played 25c/50c I used to use both (this is chiptalk, more chips!) but I found out it held up our game with the counting and odd betting ($2.75) using multiple chips. Now I just use 25c/$1/$5/$20 and the games go much smoother. YMMV though.

Me too, but it rarely comes up, as we at our lowest usually play .50/1 with quarters and dollars.

Thanks for all the responses. In standard chiptalk fashion, I decided to pick up another rack of quarters and worry about the quarters vs. fifty-cent debate later.
